Patient Experience Summary

Patient feedback reveals a mixed experience across the practice. Many patients praise the compassionate care, professional expertise, and courteous communication from medical staff and nursing teams, with particular appreciation for attentive listening and efficient prescription processing. Reception experience and phone responsiveness are consistently highlighted as strengths, with several patients noting straightforward appointment booking and welcoming environments.

However, significant challenges emerge around appointment access and waiting experiences. Patients report persistent difficulties securing timely consultations, with some describing the booking process as frustrating and complex. Long waiting times for appointments, test results, and callbacks are recurring concerns. The introduction of a triage system has generated particular frustration, with patients finding it creates barriers to accessing care for non-urgent matters. Reception staff courtesy is inconsistent, with some patients experiencing dismissive or discourteous interactions that contrast sharply with positive feedback from other visitors.

Prescription processing errors and incomplete medication orders represent another area of concern, with patients reporting repeated trips to collect missing items. Communication gaps also feature prominently, including delayed diagnostic feedback and instances where referrals or test results appear to go unprocessed. While individual clinicians receive strong praise for their clinical skills and empathy, the broader service experience is undermined by organisational challenges around continuity, responsiveness to phone inquiries, and the reliability of administrative systems.

Triage System Turning Nightmare into Painful Ordeal

This surgery used to be absolutely phenomenal, genuinely the top-tier medical practice. Then they implemented the triage system. Now it's completely terrible and fundamentally hazardous. I've been attempting to obtain pain medication for 2 months now. Every single time I call, there are zero available appointments. I'm advised to do an e-consult, which I refuse due to potential data privacy risks. Suggested to arrive in person at 8.00am...which is completely impossible for me because of work commitments and lack of transportation. Advised to go to A&E...who are already experiencing overwhelming pressures and don't need me arriving just to secure pain medication (which should be part of the doctors' standard responsibilities). They absolutely must reconsider and eliminate this triage system. It's detrimental not just for patients, but also creates significant additional stress for receptionists who shouldn't be burdened with completing triage forms via phone/in-person. Please eliminate this triage system before a serious incident occurs. However, I must emphasize a positive note. The front of house staff and doctors are ALWAYS cheerful, compassionate, helpful, understanding, and respectful. This review isn't about them because they are exceptional, but solely focused on the triage system causing widespread problems.

Cranwell Surgery: Impossible to Get an Appointment

Completely unacceptable and utterly useless. Scheduling an appointment in advance is out of the question, with only same-day slots available, making it virtually impossible to see a healthcare professional for non-urgent matters. The reception staff are discourteous and appear inadequately trained. A nearby hospital swiftly sent over my scan results, yet the surgery claimed to have no knowledge of them. Upon contacting the hospital, the staff member even remarked, 'I'm guessing you're with Cranwell at Driffield,' and commented on their notorious inefficiency. It seems this is a widespread issue for them. After enduring seven years of this complete shambles, I've transferred my registration elsewhere. This practice urgently requires investigation by regulatory authorities.

Triage System Ruined My Healthcare Experience

I've been a long-time patient at this medical facility, consistently impressed by their staff and the straightforward appointment process. However, their recent switch to a triage system has completely discouraged me from continuing to use their services. After my initial experience, securing an appointment on my sole midweek day off became an incredibly frustrating challenge. The convoluted method I was instructed to follow just to schedule a doctor's visit was unnecessarily complex and off-putting.

Saturday Morning Call Solved My Scalp Problem

During my scheduled phone consultation on Saturday, July 26th, a healthcare professional from the medical practice called me at 11:45 am. I want to express my sincere gratitude for his compassionate and empathetic approach to discussing my scalp psoriasis. The treatment he suggested has been incredibly effective, completely eliminating the persistent itching and bleeding I was experiencing. I truly wish all medical professionals were as kind and understanding as this clinician. It's clear that he entered the healthcare field with a genuine desire to help people. Although I regrettably cannot recall his name, I want to extend a heartfelt thank you and offer my highest praise for his exceptional care. Please continue your outstanding work in supporting patients like myself.

Endless Wait for X-ray Results Is Frustrating

Getting a medical consultation here is an absolute ordeal. The wait time for reviewing x-ray results is an unacceptable six weeks, which demonstrates a significant failure in patient care. Their scheduling process is incredibly frustrating - when you attempt to call at 8am, you're either unable to connect or told that all appointments are booked, forcing patients to repeatedly waste time calling day after day. This clinic clearly lacks the basic organizational skills needed to serve the community effectively and provide timely medical attention.

I remain thoroughly impressed by the exceptional service and attention offered by this medical practice. Obtaining a repeat prescription is remarkably swift, typically taking just two to three days at most, thanks to the efficient staff who process orders and the prompt GP review. The consultations, whether conducted face-to-face or via telephone, are consistently characterized by comprehensive care and remarkable professionalism. The healthcare team here is simply outstanding. My sincere appreciation goes out to them.

Uncomfortable and Unwelcome at My Doctor's Office

Every visit to this medical practice leaves me feeling unwelcome and disheartened. The staff have accused me of not receiving messages that were supposedly sent, making me feel belittled and foolish. I've become so anxious about coming here that I delay picking up prescriptions until absolutely necessary, having to muster significant courage just to walk through the door. While there are a few commendable doctors, the attitude of some reception staff completely undermines the quality of care.

Frustrating Wait for Doctor at 8am Clinic

I called the medical practice first thing in the morning at 8am and was connected immediately. I've been suffering from a severe chest condition for three weeks and urgently needed medical attention. I was placed in a triage queue... No callback occurred, so I rang at midday and was assured I was on the waiting list. By mid-afternoon, I physically went to the surgery to inquire about my status and was again told to wait for a call. When I phoned again at 4pm, they suddenly admitted they had forgotten to add me to the list and advised me to see the triage doctor at the hospital. Their conduct was completely unacceptable. It's clear they have no genuine concern for patient care and seem more interested in browsing social media on their computers rather than fulfilling their professional responsibilities.

Dismissive Receptionist Left Me Frustrated

Discourteous. Pompous. Indifferent. The list continues. The front desk personnel are absolutely terrible. Steer clear of this medical practice—it's disgraceful. I received an urgent referral from 111, only to be coldly informed they're at capacity and cannot accommodate me. The receptionist's patronizing attitude was infuriating. Her final dismissive remark, "sorry we can't help you," was the last straw. This practice is dangerously negligent in their approach, and I genuinely fear they might have already caused serious harm. Absolutely unacceptable.
