Patient Experience Summary

Appointment access remains a significant challenge at this practice, with patients reporting lengthy waits of two weeks or more, limited clinician availability, and difficulties with online booking systems that frequently close early or show minimal availability. Reception experience is mixed, with some patients describing welcoming and courteous interactions while others report dismissive and unwelcoming staff behaviour. Communication barriers extend to phone access, with patients experiencing long waits to reach the practice and inconsistent responsiveness to requests.

When consultations are secured, clinical care quality varies considerably. Some patients report excellent and compassionate support, particularly from pharmacy staff and certain clinicians, while others describe rushed appointments, dismissive communication styles, and insufficient investigation of health concerns. Concerns have been raised regarding medication management, continuity of care, and inadequate mental health support. Several patients report feeling unheard during consultations and experiencing poor administrative coordination, including missing referrals and inaccurate medical records.

Positive feedback highlights responsive same-day appointments for some patients, welcoming reception teams, and compassionate clinical staff who demonstrate genuine care. However, the overall pattern suggests systemic challenges with appointment availability, booking efficiency, and consistency in care quality that create barriers to accessing the service for many patients.

Impossible to get an appointment by phone

Struggling to secure an appointment at this practice has been frustrating. After spending considerable time trying to reach the surgery, I've encountered persistent difficulties getting through on the phone, and when contact is finally made, appointment availability seems limited. The booking process feels inefficient and in need of improvement. On a previous occasion when seeking an appointment for my child, I found that one wasn't offered until I brought them in person to demonstrate their symptoms, at which point an appointment was promptly arranged. I believe the practice would benefit from a more robust system with expanded capacity and additional clinical staff to better accommodate patient demand and reduce these ongoing access issues. My overall experience has been disappointing.

Practice failed to complete mental health referrals properly

Inadequate Mental Health Care Experience This practice has created significant difficulties for my family due to what I perceive as poor management of a patient's care. Administrative tasks such as form completion and referral requests were not actioned when requested. This led to a challenging situation which the practice then avoided responsibility for by removing the patient from their list. The transition to another surgery was not handled appropriately, with insufficient information being shared and no continuity of care arrangements made, despite the patient having no established support elsewhere. The move to a different practice was necessary due to relocation outside the catchment area. Despite the patient's requests for assistance, adequate support was not provided. Based on my experience, I would not recommend this surgery for mental health-related care.

Appointment access blocked by unhelpful reception staff

Accessing appointments at this surgery feels extremely challenging. The reception staff interactions have often felt unwelcoming and dismissive. On multiple visits, I've observed people requesting appointments being turned away with the explanation that none are available, only for other individuals who appear to have existing relationships with the staff to be offered appointments shortly afterwards. This inconsistency is deeply frustrating. I made repeated attempts to arrange a routine medication review, calling on consecutive days without success. After expressing my frustration during one of these calls, I received a callback within half an hour offering an appointment. My family members have similarly struggled to secure appointments and access necessary medications, partly due to difficulties reaching the practice by phone. I've noticed occasions when the telephone has been ringing continuously while reception staff appear to be engaged in conversation rather than attending to calls. The clinical staff appear competent and provide good care, but the significant barriers to actually reaching an appointment mean this quality of care remains inaccessible to many patients. It's disappointing that the appointment booking and phone systems create such obstacles to receiving the medical attention needed.

Online booking system excludes those without internet

A biased surgery that currently lacks internet access means I can only write this review using community wifi. The pre-bookable appointments require internet, which puts elderly patients and those unfamiliar with technology at a disadvantage. I have been attempting to secure an appointment for my young child for five days now.

Friendly staff but long waits for appointments

The reception team were welcoming and supportive, and most of the clinical staff provided excellent care. However, there were some challenges with how long it took to secure an appointment.

Reception staff could've smiled more

Attended an appointment today with my partner feeling quite positive, but after observing the clinician's demeanor and manner of communication, I left feeling rather deflated. I would have expected that in modern healthcare, more could have been done to improve the overall experience and my wellbeing during the visit.

Urgent appointments available when really needed

I have been attending this practice for approximately a decade. I have found that when I have required urgent medical attention, it has consistently been arranged. However, routine appointments typically involve a waiting period of a few weeks. I would strongly recommend this practice to others.
