Patient feedback reveals a mixed experience with significant variation in service quality. Medical staff consistently receive praise for their compassion, professionalism, and clinical expertise, with particular recognition for thorough health assessments and skilled nursing care. However, reception and administrative services present substantial challenges, with widespread complaints about difficulty accessing appointments, prolonged telephone wait times, and unresponsive phone lines. Many patients report struggling to reach staff by phone, with some describing extended waits of hours or repeated failed attempts to secure appointments. Reception experience varies considerably, with some patients describing welcoming and accommodating staff, whilst others report dismissive attitudes and poor courtesy. Communication gaps are evident, particularly regarding appointment scheduling and result delivery.
When patients do reach clinical staff, the care experience is generally positive, with many reporting feeling heard and supported during consultations. However, the booking experience and initial reception interaction frequently undermine this positive clinical care, creating frustration for patients who value their time and need timely access to services. The practice appears to face systemic challenges in managing appointment availability and telephone responsiveness, which significantly impact patient confidence in the service despite the evident clinical competence of medical professionals.

Friendly nurse makes blood test a breeze
During my husband's visit for blood work at the clinic, he once again scheduled with Natasha. As per usual, her approach was warm and compassionate. The blood draw was swift and completely comfortable, which is typical of her skillful technique. Natasha consistently demonstrates exceptional professionalism and truly represents the highest standards of the medical practice.

Terrible medical practice with zero compassion
I visited this indifferent, ineffective medical facility during an urgent situation and was forced to plead for medical attention. The receptionist deliberately placed every possible barrier to prevent me from receiving care, and the healthcare staff were equally unhelpful. The energy they expended in avoiding serving me far outweighed any effort to provide actual assistance. I have filed a complaint with the General Medical Council and will be transferring my healthcare needs to Chingford Mount.

Ridgeway surgery saves the day for new patient
I approached finding a new GP with trepidation after relocating, especially given how exceptional my previous doctor was, but I'm thrilled to have discovered The Ridgeway. I'm somewhat perplexed by the negative feedback, as my family's experience has been overwhelmingly positive. Every receptionist I've interacted with has demonstrated warmth and empathy. My encounters with the medical staff have been consistently excellent - while a few practitioners truly stand out, I find the entire team to be supportive and considerate. I understand patients' frustrations regarding waiting times, but I don't believe the blame lies with the surgery's staff. The extended hours - with appointments available from 8am to 7pm, and the surgery closing as late as 8pm on certain days - illustrate the team's commitment. The real issues likely stem from broader systemic challenges, and I believe a bit of patience and kindness can make a significant difference in navigating healthcare experiences.

Heartbreaking healthcare with little human compassion
Never a pleasant experience coming here. It genuinely triggers anxiety for me. Recently, a locum actually listened to me, leaving me in tears because I was stunned that someone took the time to genuinely care. Unfortunately, her efforts were futile as a different staff member dismissed me during the subsequent visit, despite identified issues and multiple symptoms. Picture living with an autoimmune condition where you're restricted to discussing only one symptom and feel terrified of seeking medical help due to the treatment. Consider how many years it takes to receive a proper diagnosis. They discourage natural remedies, yet realistically, patients have no alternative. I wouldn't want their prescribed treatments anyway. If you need a routine procedure like a vaccination, they'll process you quickly without any human connection. Once, I encountered a female doctor so unexpectedly pleasant that I questioned my previous perceptions. Had I misjudged earlier experiences? No - she was simply completing a performance evaluation form. Another time, I discovered a breast lump, but the doctor assumed I was there for stomach-related follow-up. Being timid, I let her continue until briefly mentioning the lump. Her response was abrupt: I could only address one issue, huffily instructing me to quickly get on the examination table. The lump was apparently an inconvenience for her, adding extra work. The only time I felt comfortable visiting was when Dr. Kaz, initially a locum, was present. Ultimately, it's purely about financial transactions. Nothing more.

Nightmare nhs surgery with horrendous customer service
When attempting to contact this disorganized, publicly funded NHS surgery by phone, you're first met with a pre-recorded message warning against verbal abuse towards staff. I can't help but wonder if the reception staff themselves should hear this warning, given their evident lack of professionalism and attitude. Should you need test results, you're instructed to press option 3. After an excruciating 43-minute wait, I was confronted by possibly the most discourteous and condescending employee imaginable. One might suspect that being unpleasant is actually a job requirement. They refused to provide my test results by phone, claiming the medical terminology would be beyond my comprehension - this from an individual who could barely construct a coherent sentence in English. Apparently, I can only obtain my results in person from a doctor, but here's the catch: no appointments are currently available. These individuals have the audacity to demand another pay increase from public funds while expecting our support and gratitude. The remarkable Dr West, who dedicated herself to building this practice, would undoubtedly be horrified at how dramatically it has deteriorated.

Terrible service and communication from surgery receptionist
The call handler has regrettably tarnished the Ridgeway surgery's reputation through her deceitful behavior over two consecutive days, failing to arrange a callback for a crucial medication adjustment. She claimed inability to hear my voice after verifying my identity and abruptly terminated the call, stating she would return it. Upon callback, the same handler again asserted she could not hear me and rudely disconnected a second time. This apparent tendency towards dishonesty is unacceptable and potentially endangers vulnerable patients. Having been a patient at this practice for over 12 years without previous issues, I have always found them efficient and compassionate. It is deeply disappointing that this particular receptionist is undermining the entire practice's reputation, as she represents the initial patient interaction point.

Compassionate nurse makes vaccination journey smooth
My spouse and I required a sequence of 6 immunizations per person, spanning 3 months. Each time, we were attended to by nurse Ionna. Her timekeeping was impeccable, and her demeanor consistently warm and welcoming. She meticulously detailed the purpose of every vaccine, potential side effects, their probable timing, and guidance on managing them. Given my wife's needle anxiety, Ionna's approach was remarkably compassionate, surpassing many previous NHS healthcare professionals we'd experienced. She truly exemplifies excellence in both her medical practice and personal care, reflecting immense credit to her workplace and professional field.

Exceptional care after years of medical uncertainty
Recently visited and noticed significant improvements. The front desk staff was incredibly supportive. The temporary physician was remarkably thorough - after many years, this is the first time I've received a comprehensive health assessment following my COVID-19 experience. Impressive work, definitely continue on this excellent path.

Frustrating and unprofessional telephone doctor appointment failure
On 28/11/23, my elderly mother and I anticipated a telephone consultation scheduled for the afternoon window between 14:00 and 16:00. Unfortunately, no call was received. Despite making two follow-up inquiries, we were unable to obtain any meaningful communication or clarity about the status of our appointment. By 17:00, my mother was exhausted, and we reluctantly abandoned our wait. The doctor subsequently called at 18:00 and left a voicemail message. In my view, a telephone appointment should be treated with the same professional respect as an in-person consultation, and being left in limbo for 4 hours is unacceptable. We are now compelled to restart the appointment process for a consultation that was originally initiated by the medical practice itself.

Compassionate care saved me from hospital neglect
I am grateful to Dr. Dalal and the Reception team who assisted me with my injury initially, especially after the subpar treatment I received at Northwick park A&E department. First, kudos to the Reception staff who examined my injury and promptly requested a doctor's consultation. Dr. Dalal then provided excellent care, for which I am truly thankful. I deeply appreciate their support. While the NHS seems to be declining, I was fortunate to be in capable hands. My sincere gratitude goes out to all the doctors and Reception staff at Ridgeway surgery. 🙏🏼

Terrible doctor ruins once-great medical practice
I was extremely satisfied with this GP previously, but after the doctor change, it's become an absolute nightmare. I'm deeply distressed by how this physician treats patients and how incredibly unhelpful they are. I'm astonished that someone like this can even be a medical professional. They display zero empathy. Their tone of voice clearly reveals their complete lack of concern. They were unwilling to assist, investigate my issue, or do anything constructive. They simply sit there collecting payment, seemingly proud of their indifference. Regrettably, I'm forced to find a new general practitioner. The reception staff remains wonderful and supportive; the primary issue lies solely with this new doctor. They demonstrate no compassion for patients, fail to comprehend medical concerns, and appear completely incapable of communicating professionally.

Exceptional care from a truly remarkable doctor
I was promptly attended to by Dr Koech, and I must emphasize how exceptional she was. Her professionalism, attentiveness, expertise, and cheerful demeanor truly set her apart, as there are few general practitioners who can create such a comforting environment. Dr Koech, I extend my heartfelt gratitude for everything. I'd like to mention that I subsequently consulted Mr Saeed, the physiotherapist at this clinic, who, much like Dr Koech, is absolutely outstanding. To encapsulate my experience... I cannot express enough appreciation for the entire staff at this practice, from the front desk personnel to the medical professionals. I've been treated with both warmth and professionalism, and have been seen promptly and punctually. I'm absolutely thrilled! A tremendous thank you to everyone involved.

Frustrating and unprofessional medical service experience
Accessing a general practitioner is challenging due to the receptionist also serving as the GP. To schedule a telephone consultation, you must first answer medical screening questions. Additionally, if you require any medical documentation to be signed, there are associated fees that must be paid.

Negligent doctors destroyed my life insurance hopes
Ridgeway surgery has consistently ignored my repeated requests over the past 13 months to forward my medical documentation to an insurance provider who was preparing to offer me life and critical illness coverage, given that I have two young children. Despite numerous attempts through phone calls, emails, and written correspondence, they have persistently declined to assist me. As a result of a medical emergency, I am now unable to obtain insurance. Had they simply spent a brief moment sending my records, I would currently have the support I need. Instead, I am left without coverage. Moreover, if I were to become ill, my family would face significant financial vulnerability. All of this stems from their repeated refusal to complete a straightforward administrative task. When I challenged their inaction, their dismissive response was that it "wasn't their priority". Absolutely appalling service...

Fantastic service at the ridgeway medical center
The personnel at the Ridgeway were absolutely outstanding. While I recognize that other customers have shared less favorable accounts, our personal interaction was nothing short of impressive. The staff demonstrated remarkable compassion and attentiveness, creating an environment that made us feel completely at ease and well-supported throughout our entire experience.

Worst medical experience ever terrible service
Utterly revolting, incredibly discourteous personnel. Incompetent medical professionals. I endured the unfortunate circumstance of visiting this clinic merely to collect a document. During my brief 5-minute stay, every single individual seemed eager to criticize. The staff's standard greeting was practically an invitation to lodge a complaint, with "I'm sorry" being their go-to phrase. I could compose extensive documentation detailing the numerous failings of this specific medical practice, while acknowledging the broader systemic pressures affecting healthcare facilities. Should you choose to register with this surgery, you're essentially sealing your fate to receive substandard medical care with absolutely no prospect of adequate treatment.
