Patient Experience Summary

Feedback about this practice reveals a deeply polarised patient experience with significant inconsistencies across service areas. Appointment access remains a persistent challenge, with many patients reporting difficulty securing face-to-face consultations, extended waiting times both for booking and in-person visits, and instances of appointment cancellations. Reception experience emerges as a major concern, with multiple accounts of discourteous, dismissive, and unprofessional conduct from front desk staff, though some patients report courteous greetings. Communication and responsiveness issues are widespread, including missed phone consultation callbacks, poor coordination, and lack of clarity around procedures.

Medical staff performance is notably mixed. Several patients praise individual doctors and nurses for compassionate, thorough, and efficient care, while others describe dismissive attitudes, lack of empathy, and rushed consultations. The practice environment itself receives criticism regarding cleanliness standards, outdated facilities, and inadequate privacy arrangements, though some recent visitors report well-maintained spaces. A smaller group of long-standing patients express satisfaction with continuity of care and supportive staff, suggesting positive experiences are possible but appear inconsistent. The overall pattern indicates systemic organisational challenges affecting appointment availability, booking experience, and reception courtesy, alongside variable quality in clinical interactions.

Warmest ECG with a Caring Nurse

My visit to the medical practice this week was truly exceptional, all thanks to the delightful Pakistani nurse who performed my ECG. Her warm demeanor and welcoming personality were evident from our very first interaction. She was incredibly easy to engage with, and our conversation quickly expanded beyond my medical concerns. Her empathetic listening skills were so profound that the appointment felt more like a therapeutic dialogue, and I even suggested she should consider a career in counseling. Despite being complete strangers just moments before, she created such a comfortable atmosphere that I found myself sharing more personal details than I typically would. However, when I left, I felt remarkably unburdened, my spirits lifted, and my overall well-being significantly improved. Her genuine kindness and optimistic approach truly transformed what could have been a routine medical check into a deeply positive and uplifting experience. I am sincerely thankful for her compassionate care.

Worst ultrasound experience at Mile End clinic

Terrible positioning of the facility, ground floor staff completely disregard patients, upper level has no proper reception area just forcing people to sit idly, I'll absolutely decline if Mile End hospital recommends this place again, zero changing areas and zero privacy, Despite promises of providing a gown, nothing materialized, ultrasound conducted in a cramped office space - strongly recommend steering clear, staff were completely unhelpful about explaining potential treatment options

Dr Laura's Compassionate Care Saved Me

Dr. Laura demonstrates exceptional compassion as a healthcare professional, taking ample time with patients and meticulously addressing their medical needs and worries. Since she is only present at the clinic twice weekly, I sincerely hope she continues to be a part of this medical practice for the foreseeable future.

Healthcare Heroes in a Crumbling Building

The staff, especially the healthcare professionals, genuinely try their hardest! If you treat them with respect, they'll reciprocate. However, the state of this facility is truly disheartening. Wall paint is peeling everywhere, floor tiles are loose and coming apart, and the waiting area seating is sparse and extremely uncomfortable, forcing patients to stand. These dedicated professionals, who have invested years in their education, are working in an environment that resembles a run-down prison. It's deeply concerning that vulnerable, sick individuals must seek care in such an unsuitable and potentially unsafe setting. There's an urgent need for government investment in primary care centers.

Reliable local GP for two decades

They've consistently been supportive and quite effective at scheduling my medical appointments. Throughout two decades of using this practice as my local general practitioner, I've never encountered any significant issues. Given the current challenges facing the NHS, they manage remarkably well.

Frustrating wait times at Spitalfields Practice

My interaction with The Spitalfields Practice has been incredibly frustrating. Scheduling phone consultations has proven to be completely unpredictable—physicians consistently run late or are entirely unavailable, and professional communication appears to be the exception rather than the norm. Despite my urgent need to discuss a concerning pain in my right side, the receptionist coldly informed me that no appointments exist for the entire month. 🤦🏻🤦🏻

Staff Yelling at Patients in Waiting Room

I observed reception employees yelling at patients, incredibly irritated when asked about room locations. The level of rage was appalling - they seemed ready to physically assault the patients! Medical examinations were performed in the waiting area with only a flimsy screen providing minimal privacy, allowing everyone present to overhear every conversation. While another review claimed the practice was hygienic, used tissues were scattered across a dirty floor that appeared not to have been cleaned in weeks. I strongly advise seeking medical care elsewhere.

Quick and Professional Morning Checkup

On August 5th 2025, I experienced a truly seamless and professional medical visit. Dr. Bassem Saleh saw me precisely at our scheduled 3:15 time slot and conducted a comprehensive examination. The front desk personnel were communicative and supportive throughout my arrival. Nurse Michael was personable, first introducing himself and then efficiently guiding me to the exam room. I completed my entire appointment and was departing by 4pm. The medical center is outstanding in its operations and patient care.

Quick and Smooth Hearing Test Appointment

I recently experienced a seamless ENT consultation at this medical facility. The receptionist provided a warm welcome, and I was called in precisely at my scheduled time for the hearing assessment. After a brief interval, I met with the personable ENT specialist who thoroughly explained my test outcomes and recommended follow-up actions. Since multiple departments operate in this location, I can only confidently comment on the ENT service, but I found it to be top-notch and would definitely return if needed.

Terrible Phone Consultations Drove Me Crazy

I scheduled approximately three appointments with them, exclusively during critical health situations (as an international student). While they provide appointments, obtaining a face-to-face consultation requires enduring extremely long wait times. Telephone consultations were consistently problematic, with doctors perpetually mismanaging their schedules. They would invariably fail to call at the agreed time, and when I attempted to follow up, I was instructed to reschedule. On one particularly frustrating occasion, the doctor cancelled the appointment without any prior communication or notification. I waited the entire day for a call, and upon contacting reception, discovered the doctor had abruptly departed "for a meeting" - how unprofessional and heartless can this system be????? Overwhelmed with emotion, I confronted the receptionist about their appalling service, only to be met with a cold, dismissive response suggesting I rebook. Their communication was completely nonexistent! COMPLETELY ABSENT! Avoid this medical practice at all costs.

Rude Ultrasound Tech Ruined My Appointment

The service here is absolutely appalling - steer clear if you value your time and respect. When my GP referred me for an ultrasound, I wish I'd gone elsewhere. The female technician upstairs, a Black woman with short curly hair, displayed an utterly terrible attitude. She claimed I arrived 6 minutes past my 10-minute window and falsely stated I wasn't in the waiting room, even though I was. She accused me of lying, then pretended she might accommodate my scan. I was forced to wait around for 20 pointless minutes, only to be told they couldn't fit me in. She then instructed me to call and reschedule, and when I explained how crucial this scan was, she couldn't have cared less. Her insincere "sorry" was delivered with complete indifference before she simply walked away.

Spotless Ultrasound Clinic in Spitalfields

Spitalfields Practice offered a pristine and inviting setting for my abdominal ultrasound procedure. The personnel were cordial and professional, which contributed to a remarkably comfortable experience. The clinic's cleanliness was notably exceptional, with the restroom facilities being particularly well-maintained. Nevertheless, I must caution potential visitors about the extremely restricted parking arrangements. The lack of adequate parking spaces makes it highly recommended to explore alternative modes of transportation when scheduling an appointment. Regards

Desperate for Diabetes Test Strips at 9 Months

As a pregnant woman dealing with gestational diabetes, I'm facing a critical issue with my test strip supply. My routine requires checking sugar levels 4 times daily, which means using 100 test strips that typically last 20-22 days. I last collected these around March 20th. When I visited the reception on April 12th, 2025, seeking a new supply, they completely dismissed my request. With my mobility limited by my pregnancy, I attempted to resolve this by phone, but was unsuccessful. I spoke with Palma, who not only refused to help but is now claiming I never even came in that day. The current receptionist is equally unhelpful and seems unable to verify my previous visit. As a result, I'm now without any test strips, which is extremely problematic for monitoring my health during this crucial time.

Unbearable bureaucracy and plain senselessness

I have been registered with this practice for over 10 years, and in all that time, I’ve probably seen my GP in person fewer than 10 times. The level of access to care has been consistently poor, and the experience with the reception staff is nothing short of appalling. Despite following the practice’s procedures — queuing patiently, calling at the specified times, or using the online systems — I’ve repeatedly been ignored, spoken over, or dismissed entirely. There have been times when I was standing right at the desk, only to be skipped or have the receptionist start speaking to someone else as if I wasn’t even there. It’s unprofessional and, frankly, disrespectful. The reception staff show very little interest in providing any form of personal attention or empathy. There is a general air of indifference, as though patients are an inconvenience rather than individuals seeking care. This attitude makes every interaction unnecessarily stressful and deeply frustrating. Trying to secure a GP appointment or arrange a repeat prescription is an uphill battle — overly complicated, time-consuming, and often fruitless. There’s no consistency in communication, no clear guidance, and certainly no sense of patient-focused service. It’s incredibly disheartening to have been with a practice for so long and still feel so unsupported. I hope the management take reviews like this seriously, because many of us deserve far better from a service that is meant to care for our health.

Endless Struggle for an Autism Diagnosis

I'm utterly frustrated with their incompetence. My autistic son has been waiting for a proper diagnostic referral since he was 2, and now he's 4 years old. He's nonverbal, requires constant support, and struggles with sleep every single night. Despite my persistent efforts, they're now claiming the referral was never processed and suggesting the school should handle it. How can I send him to school when he can't even settle at night? These general practitioners are completely failing families like mine who desperately need professional help. All I want is a simple referral for my son, and they continue to provide nothing but excuses and runaround. This entire system is a complete mockery of supporting children with special needs!

Quick visit, no real help

Quick service, yet disappointing outcome. I sought help for chronic ear infections that have plagued me for 24 months, and their recommendation was simply to purchase an over-the-counter anti-itch solution. I anticipated receiving at least one prescription medication. The medical staff consistently interrupted me, preventing me from fully describing my complete range of symptoms. I was made to feel insignificant and dismissed, almost like a child being brushed aside.
