Medical staff, including doctors and nurses, consistently receive praise for their compassionate care, professionalism, attentiveness, and ability to make patients feel heard and supported. Patients report confidence in the clinical team's expertise and appreciate the welcoming atmosphere within consultations, with many noting efficient referral processes and comprehensive care.
Reception experience presents a significant challenge, with numerous patients reporting discourteous behaviour, dismissive attitudes, and poor communication. Common concerns include difficulty accessing appointments, unhelpful phone interactions, lack of empathy, and gatekeeping that feels obstructive rather than supportive. Some patients describe reception staff as impatient, rude, or indifferent, particularly during vulnerable moments such as pregnancy-related inquiries or urgent medical needs.
Appointment access shows mixed feedback. While some patients report straightforward booking and timely availability, others describe prolonged waiting times for initial consultations, difficulties reaching the practice by phone, and frustration with scheduling delays or last-minute changes. The practice's online booking system and e-consultation platform receive positive mentions, though concerns about responsiveness and communication consistency persist across multiple reviews.

Excellent!
Amazing gp with caring doctors and helpful staff
This medical practice is absolutely top-notch for our neighborhood. I cannot recommend them enough to local residents. Their entire team is phenomenal, but the doctors are truly exceptional. They provide clear, direct health guidance with remarkable honesty and transparency. A massive thank you to Dr. Sawyer, who was incredibly compassionate during my consultation today - she made me feel completely supported and cared for. If scheduling an in-person appointment proves challenging, their e-consult system is incredibly efficient and dependable. I'm especially appreciative of Dr. Palmer and Dr. Phelan for making healthcare so accessible. Truly a five-star service that goes above and beyond. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Best Wishes Benjay Shodipe

Heartless surgery denies urgent medical care
I contacted the surgery to verify my postcode before submitting my application, and they initially confirmed it was accepted. I completed the form with complete honesty, transparently detailing my condition and the urgency of my specific cancer screening. Statham Grove surgery subsequently informed me that my postcode was not acceptable. When I reminded them of my previous confirmation, they claimed it was a misunderstanding and that my area was not within their coverage. Upon checking their website, I confirmed that both my street and house were clearly within their service area. Despite this, they maintained that even though the street appeared eligible, my specific postcode was not, and therefore they could not accept me. I am deeply concerned this might represent discrimination against my medical condition, suggesting an unwillingness to accept a patient with health challenges. The thought that someone in urgent need of medical attention could be denied healthcare access is profoundly disheartening. I am utterly disappointed by this experience.

Amazing healthcare experience at local medical practice
Hands down, the most exceptional general practitioners I've encountered in the capital over the past decade.

Terrible service left me searching for new healthcare
My encounter with this medical practice was deeply unsatisfactory, leading me to ultimately change healthcare providers. Scheduling an appointment was an incredibly frustrating process, and the digital booking platform offered little assistance, lacking comprehensive options for describing medical concerns. Multiple times, the physician failed to make the promised telephone consultation - once regarding my blood test results, which I later discovered had been misplaced, and another instance following the initiation of an antidepressant prescription, where I would have reasonably anticipated a follow-up discussion with the prescribing doctor. In summary, the entire experience was characterized by inefficiency and a notable lack of patient support.

Rude receptionist ruined my urgent medical visit
I failed to pass the entrance's "politeness" screening. My simple request to take the registration form home (lacking a mobile to translate their outdated measurement systems and medical terminology) was met with an extremely discourteous response. Frustrated, I departed despite urgently needing medical attention. Fortunately, I discovered a more compassionate healthcare provider who confirmed my right to take the form home. A resounding thumbs down to the spectacled, ill-mannered staff member who desperately requires training on patient rights and sensitivity regarding potential discriminatory behaviors. Whichever perspective you examine it from, blocking my ability to carefully complete the form represents an unlawful, irrational, and deliberately antagonistic action. Their subsequent "apology" rings hollow—merely an attempt to rationalize the fundamentally unjustifiable. I've said my piece.

Comprehensive healthcare with compassionate and quick service
A truly exceptional medical practice. They are incredibly attentive and offer an extensive array of services, ranging from mental health assistance and benefits guidance to physiotherapy, alongside excellent general practitioners. We can secure same-day phone consultations, and they ensure prompt in-person appointments when required. Their telephone system is top-notch, and the reception staff are equally impressive.

Frustrating healthcare experience with unhelpful staff
Getting an appointment or reaching the doctors here is practically impossible. The staff, as numerous others have noted, comes across as unfriendly and unhelpful. Their response this time was shockingly dismissive: "you need to understand you are competing with hundreds of other patients". Thanks, NHS - I've been trying to see a specific doctor at my registered surgery for six days, and it feels like I'm competing in an Olympic event. What's more, they're still taking on new patients, which suggests the situation will only deteriorate further. I can't provide meaningful insight about the doctors since I've only seen one briefly four years ago, and my recollection of that encounter was somewhat positive. UPDATE Dear Mr Reynolds: Despite waiting 10 days for a doctor's call, nothing materialized. The conversation with the physiotherapist was equally terrible. To summarize, I ultimately had to resort to hiring a private GP.

Exceptional healthcare at statham grove surgery
Throughout my extensive tenure at Statham Grove Surgery, spanning more than two dozen years personally and over 17 years for my partner, our encounters have been consistently exceptional. The front desk staff demonstrate remarkable professionalism and effectiveness, while the doctors and nursing team consistently deliver outstanding patient care. Acknowledging the current challenging landscape facing NHS medical facilities, which are experiencing significant operational pressures and numerous systemic limitations, this practice remains remarkably responsive. Notably, we have frequently been able to secure same-day consultations, a testament to their commitment and efficiency despite the broader healthcare environment's complexities.

Compassionate doctor transformed my health and hope
I was fortunate to consult one of the NHS's finest physicians, Dr. Nik Mann. Initially, I encountered significant challenges with an unsympathetic receptionist who was unhelpful despite my urgent medical concern, even after emailing the surgery. Ultimately, I managed to secure an appointment with Dr. Mann on the same day. He was extraordinarily dedicated to addressing my persistent back issue and, almost magically, manipulated my back and leg, which dramatically alleviated my pain. Despite limited consultation time, he was comprehensive and thorough, taking extra moments to ensure my complete care. Dr. Mann made me feel genuinely heard and valued as a patient, treating me with remarkable compassion. While struggling with mental health challenges, his exceptional treatment was truly transformative. I am immensely grateful for his support during a critical time. The only drawback was the reception's apparent language barrier bias, but Dr. Mann's exceptional care overshadows this concern, and I wholeheartedly recommend this medical practice.

Unhelpful receptionist ruins medical practice experience
In the past, I've always received excellent care from Statham Grove GP when I needed medical attention in Stokey. However, over the last year, a particular receptionist has made me contemplate changing practices. Acting as an obstructive gatekeeper, she has twice denied me GP appointments during my pregnancy. Her approach is consistently rude and patronizing. Yesterday, she redirected me to an NHS helpline, where I endured a 2.5-hour wait, only to be told I needed to contact my GP directly. I'm now uncertain how to proceed, as the prospect of calling and facing her intrusive questioning is deeply unappealing. During an already stressful period, and as someone who rarely seeks medical help, I find her demeanor incredibly frustrating. A previous review confirms I'm not alone in this experience. It's genuinely disappointing that this employee appears unsuited to a customer-facing position. My recommendation: if you genuinely require GP care, firmly state to the receptionist that you do not wish to discuss your symptoms with them.

Nurse aisha saved my day with kindness
I want to extend my heartfelt gratitude to nurse Aisha Ali, who helped me during my medical appointment today. I was extremely anxious about the visit, but she immediately helped me feel relaxed and was incredibly soothing. Her compassionate approach was remarkable, and I am truly appreciative. In all my future appointments, I will specifically request to be seen by her.

Friendly staff marred by one rude receptionist
The nursing staff and Dr. West are wonderful, but I'm not alone in noticing the receptionist's unpleasant demeanor. Her attitude is truly problematic, and her sarcastic tone needs serious addressing. Despite asking my question courteously, she curtly told me to look at the signs - and there were literally around 15 large, bold signs plastered on the windows and reception area. I recognize that everyone is experiencing stress, but at that moment, I was the sole patient inside, with only one young woman waiting outside.

Inconsistent care mars medical practice experience
We've been long-time patients here and typically receive satisfactory medical attention once we see a physician. However, the front desk interactions have been inconsistent. When my wife first contacted them about our pregnancy six months ago, the staff's response was coldly dismissive and borderline rude, essentially telling us to go away. Recently, they had the audacity to follow up with a casual "How is everything going with the pregnancy?", which felt incredibly hypocritical considering their previous lack of compassion and support. Fortunately, we managed to navigate the situation through a hospital directory, but their initial indifference added unwarranted emotional strain to what should have been a joyous life moment.

Terrible doctor with poor hygiene and attitude
I've been a patient at this medical practice for nearly a decade. After my appointment yesterday, I'm actively seeking a new GP surgery. Dr. Palmer examined me and provided recommendations that directly contradicted the advice from A and E. He essentially told me to make my own medical decision and abruptly dismissed me, stating, "I don't have time for this, I have other patients..." He refused to redress my wound after I had it examined and shockingly, there was no soap available in his office for hand washing after the wound inspection. This is completely unacceptable! A medical practice without basic hygiene supplies should not be permitted to see patients until they resolve these fundamental issues. I'm left wondering how the doctor himself maintains hand hygiene - just with water? I will definitely be filing an official complaint with PALS about this unprofessional and potentially unhygienic treatment. The whole experience was absolutely shameful. Follow-up: I was compelled to return to A and E the next morning, where multiple professionals consulted on my wound. It's particularly telling that the practice's response only addresses the soap issue, completely avoiding the serious concerns about conflicting medical advice and the doctor's refusal to seek a second opinion.
