Quick callback helped me recover faster

I rang the surgery to report that I was experiencing breathing difficulties related to my cough and respiratory condition. The receptionist promptly arranged for a clinician to contact me, which happened within a short timeframe. Following our discussion, I was asked to attend the surgery for an examination. The clinician offered treatment to help improve my breathing and issued a prescription for medication. They indicated they would get in touch after several days to assess how well the medication was working and scheduled another appointment for the following week. The swift response from the surgery team contributed significantly to my recovery. I am very appreciative of the efficient care provided by the staff. Many thanks!

Reception helped gather scattered medical records

I am newly registered at this practice and am leaving one star because I visited a few times with a different clinician who was excellent, otherwise I would leave no stars at all. When I registered, I mentioned that my medical records were disorganised, so the receptionist said she would gather them together as the practice only had part of them. A few days later, I received an email confirming that all my records had been obtained and consolidated. I suffer from severe depression and attended an appointment as I had been feeling very low. I was seen by a clinician and could barely speak as I was crying throughout. The clinician stated that she could not see any records of my depression, which made me feel as though she thought I was not being truthful. I explained that I did have depression and offered to bring documentation from home, including evidence of previous mental health crises. The clinician then asked what I wanted her to do. I responded that I did not know, and that if I did, I would not have come to the surgery. I mentioned that my previous doctor had arranged therapy sessions for me, but I was unable to attend due to fatigue and panic attacks, and that my previous doctor had provided one-to-one support. She replied that no one at the practice could offer that. What shocked me most was when she said at the end that I only had two choices: be strong or give up. Although I understand her point, this was not what I expected to hear from a healthcare professional. As I left, I asked for her name to leave this review. I felt significantly worse leaving the clinic than when I arrived. She must have realised why I was asking, as she subsequently sent me a message with a wellbeing link. It is difficult for someone in my situation to seek help when society often judges people negatively, and hearing this kind of response from a healthcare professional makes it harder to believe recovery is possible.

Reception staff were kind and efficient

Had my first appointment at this practice today and I was very impressed. The reception team were kind and efficient, the waiting area was clean and the clinician I saw was exceptional. They were kind, listened carefully to my concerns and genuinely seemed to care about my wellbeing. They even followed up with a phone call shortly afterwards with an additional treatment suggestion. I was very impressed with the whole team.

Reception couldn't book urgent appointment slots

The reception team seemed unable to arrange an appointment within the timeframe I needed, with availability only extending several weeks ahead. This was problematic given that I require medication which needs to be managed on a strict schedule and cannot be delayed. It appeared inconsistent that an appointment could apparently be scheduled for a similar timeframe through another route. The booking system or staffing capacity may benefit from review to address what seems to be a gap in the service.

Surgery closing times weren't clearly displayed

Arrived at the practice one evening at 7:20 p.m. to find it had already closed, as the displayed opening hours had not been updated to reflect the current schedule. The practice now operates Monday to Friday from 0800 to 1830, with no extended evening appointments available. The staff are excellent. That said, there have been occasional issues with prescription accuracy that could be improved.

I've been attending this excellent GP surgery for several years. The reception team are friendly and approachable, and the clinical staff are all outstanding. I've received very compassionate care for my ongoing health condition (notably, they've taken my concerns seriously, which hasn't always been my experience elsewhere!) and for various other health matters throughout my time there. I've been seen by several different clinicians, and each one has been exceptional. They've invested considerable time and attention in my care, demonstrating excellent interpersonal skills, which is particularly impressive given the demanding nature of general practice, the operational pressures involved, and the challenging circumstances of recent years that have placed significant strain on healthcare professionals. I feel genuinely fortunate to have access to this practice.
