Friendly staff helped me feel listened to

We relocated to the area in October and joined this GP Practice. The service has been outstanding. The clinician took time to listen to my concerns about an ongoing health issue and explained the proposed treatment approach in detail. This treatment has proven to be very beneficial so far. The team at the practice are welcoming and supportive.

Reception staff helped fit me in quickly

A few days ago, I experienced what appeared to be a significant insect bite while travelling away from home. By the following morning, my leg had become considerably swollen and the swelling was continuing to increase. I decided to visit my local practice on the chance that someone might be able to examine it or offer guidance, though I wasn't particularly optimistic about getting an appointment. Upon arrival at reception, the staff member I spoke with was exceptionally welcoming and supportive. She noticed the swelling on my leg and offered to attempt arranging for a clinician to see me, though she did mention there could be a short wait. I was perfectly content with this and appreciated her willingness to help. To my pleasant surprise, within thirty minutes I had checked in at reception, been seen by a very capable clinician, and received a prescription for medication that I was able to collect before leaving. It was an altogether excellent experience and I'm very grateful for the care received.

Reception staff made booking straightforward and easy

My baby daughter and I have received excellent care from the practice in Thirsk. One clinician took ownership of care in resolving my daughter's skin condition, ensuring other staff members were briefed during their absence and persisted in finding a favourable outcome. I also received excellent postnatal care and support from another clinician and the nursing team. All staff members have done their best to provide an excellent service and support to my family.

Missed telephone appointment with no explanation

I was advised to avoid attending the surgery if my body temperature exceeded a certain threshold. I arranged a telephone consultation and remained available throughout the day anticipating contact. Unfortunately, the call never came through. No follow-up communication or acknowledgement of the situation was provided.

Receptionists genuinely try to accommodate you

I previously attended this practice, relocated away from the area, and upon returning after several years felt compelled to register with them again. The team has consistently demonstrated helpfulness and warmth throughout my time as a patient. The front desk staff display competence and professionalism, making genuine efforts to accommodate patient needs. The clinicians are approachable and demonstrate attentive listening skills. The remote consultations offered recently have been comprehensive and provided reassurance during challenging times. In response to feedback about reception enquiries regarding patient concerns, it should be noted that staff members ask these questions to help direct patients to the most appropriate clinician based on their expertise. Patients retain the option to decline providing detailed information at reception if they prefer. It is worth remembering that all staff operate within strict confidentiality frameworks and professional codes of conduct, with patient privacy being paramount.

Reception staff blocked appointment access without reason

The reception staff came across as unwelcoming and unhelpful. They insisted on knowing the reason for requesting an appointment, as though they were in a position to judge whether the matter was significant or time-sensitive, or whether an appointment was genuinely necessary. This felt like an inappropriate intrusion into private health matters. Very disappointed with this experience.
