Patient Experience Summary

Feedback on this practice reflects a deeply polarised patient experience. Medical professionals consistently receive praise for clinical expertise, compassion, and meticulous care, with many patients reporting excellent outcomes and responsive treatment. However, appointment access and reception experience present significant challenges that dominate negative feedback. Patients describe difficulty securing appointments through restrictive online booking systems, lengthy phone waiting times, and reception staff displaying discourtesy and dismissiveness, particularly toward vulnerable individuals. Communication barriers, including unresponsive email systems and confusing online platforms, create additional frustration.

The appointment booking system emerges as a central concern, with patients reporting same-day slots available only at 8am, creating practical barriers for working families and elderly patients unfamiliar with digital systems. Some patients report waiting weeks or months for callbacks, whilst others describe being redirected inappropriately or having appointments cancelled without notification. Administrative responsiveness to requests for medical records and insurance documentation has also been problematic for some.

Despite these access challenges, patients who successfully navigate the booking process frequently express satisfaction with the clinical care received and note recent improvements in reception staff attitudes. The contrast between positive clinical experiences and negative administrative interactions suggests the practice's core medical service remains valued, but systemic barriers to accessing that care require urgent attention.

Excellent!

Compassionate doctors who really listened

The medical professionals have been exceptional, attentive, and meticulous in their examinations. Specifically, Dr. Emily Northern and Dr. Sheena Patel stand out (imagine high-achieving, top-tier university graduates - absolutely meant as a compliment!) I appreciate your dedication and empathetic approach.

Months of waiting for a simple form

The administrative performance of this medical practice is utterly abysmal, characterized by sluggishness and a complete lack of professionalism. Since November 30th, 2022, I've been attempting to have their Patient Services Administrator complete a straightforward "healthcare practitioner's questionnaire" required by my private health insurance. I've already paid for this service, yet I remain in limbo. Their responses have been a series of ridiculous excuses: claiming they "lost" my original email (which I sent twice), promising to add a note and contact me soon (still waiting), and simply telling me to be patient because they're "busy" (again, still waiting). I'm not interested in hearing generic suggestions to "contact them to investigate further". I've already spent nearly two months calling and emailing about this seemingly simple request, which remains unresolved. UPDATE: I switched practices, and the form was completed within 10 days.

Thurleigh Road staff made me want to quit

Our interaction with this medical facility has been consistently disappointing over the past several years. The front desk staff are remarkably unhelpful, and scheduling appointments is an absolute nightmare! We are seriously contemplating switching providers because we have zero confidence in Thurleigh Road's ability to meet even basic patient needs.

Friendly doctors and clean waiting area

We've relied on this medical center for nearly three years and have been thoroughly impressed with their exceptional customer service, professional approach, and quick responsiveness across their entire team. The physicians and nursing staff have consistently delivered outstanding medical care for my family. The facility itself is impressively maintained, with ample cleanliness and spacious areas, including convenient external space for storing strollers and pushchairs. Without hesitation, I would enthusiastically endorse this GP practice to others.

Compassionate care after two decades

Throughout my two-decade journey as a patient here, the compassion and dedication I've experienced have been truly exceptional. The medical team has consistently made me feel fully involved and informed about my treatment choices. Their commitment goes well beyond standard care, always striving to provide the most comprehensive support possible. I am deeply grateful for their outstanding approach to healthcare.

Friendly docs, tricky online booking

The medical staff here are wonderfully compassionate. However, scheduling an appointment has become increasingly challenging, especially for those who aren't tech-savvy, which particularly impacts elderly patients who likely require medical attention most urgently. If you can navigate the process - either through Accurx online at 8am or via 111 (though the latter can involve lengthy waits), you'll receive a callback and be seen if medically necessary. Requesting repeat prescriptions online is straightforward, though occasionally medications mysteriously vanish from the list, forcing you to re-engage through Accurx to reconnect - a somewhat tedious process. The Accurx system also inexplicably blocks access during afternoon hours, even for basic inquiries, which I find completely unacceptable.

Thurleigh road practice's administrative nightmare

I've been receiving medical care at the Thurleigh Road Practice for nearly two decades. Previously, the quality of service was outstanding, but recently it has dramatically deteriorated. Scheduling an appointment or establishing contact with the practice has become extremely challenging. This decline is not attributable to the medical staff's competence or skills. Instead, the problem stems entirely from severe administrative shortcomings. The practice desperately requires a complete overhaul of its appointment booking system and patient communication protocols. Until these critical issues are addressed, the practice will continue to neglect its fundamental responsibility to patients. At present, the entire system is fundamentally dysfunctional.

Caring doctors despite nhs challenges

Thurleigh Rd Practice, like numerous healthcare providers, is grappling with the current NHS challenges. Despite these difficulties, as a long-standing patient, I've consistently experienced exceptional care and genuine compassion. While securing appointments can be frustrating and the landscape has undoubtedly shifted since the pandemic, I'm understanding of the unprecedented circumstances that nobody wished for or anticipated.

Poor!

Missed prescriptions and admin headaches

I'm reluctant to criticize the NHS, but this practice has seriously deteriorated. Miss Patel and the new Lady Physician are helpful, and nurses Jo and Sophie remain excellent. However, the administrative side is extremely poor. My repeat prescriptions are consistently incorrect, and when complaints are raised, the standard dismissive response follows. I've been misled by at least three doctors regarding treatment protocols. Two of the best doctors (Edson & Poole) have departed, along with the remarkable Jo Fisher. After three years, they're still using the archaic 8am appointment call-in system! I'm aware that Dr Peach & Scofield have retired and seemingly attempted to sell the practice. This appears to be a consequence of partial NHS privatization. The dual role of being both client and supplier to the NHS inevitably creates conflicts of interest and temptations to make patient-unfriendly cost-cutting decisions. Overall, I deeply regret transferring from Battersea Rise and will seek to move again. It's truly disappointing, as prior to recent events, the practice had an exceptionally good reputation.

Same day care for my toddler

I am truly amazed by the exceptional care we've experienced since switching to this medical practice just a few months ago. Whenever we've been concerned about my toddler daughter's health, I've always been able to secure a same-day consultation. This approach has undoubtedly prevented us from making multiple trips to the emergency room. The clinicians have consistently been meticulous, always prioritizing an in-person examination if they cannot provide complete reassurance over the phone. When I discovered I was pregnant again, I found it incredibly straightforward to secure an early appointment with a nurse practitioner. Additionally, obtaining repeat prescriptions for my pregnancy-related nausea medication has been seamless, ensuring I never experience any interruption in my treatment. Their entire system, including the user-friendly app and responsive phone reception, operates with remarkable efficiency. Every clinician I've encountered has demonstrated utmost professionalism. I recognize that the current environment for general practitioners in our country is challenging, and media narratives often unfairly portray them negatively. However, I firmly believe this clinic consistently goes above and beyond, delivering excellent, safe, and timely care to their patients. My heartfelt gratitude to the entire team.

Long wait and poor skin care

Scheduling an appointment here is nearly impossible - you're left choosing between an urgent same-day locum visit or waiting months. After experiencing sun damage during a desert trip (even with sunscreen), they refused to address or refer me for treatment. I had to seek a private GP to confirm the precancerous skin growth needed removal. I underwent a sleep study where a follow-up phone consultation was promised but never materialized, despite correspondence between Guy's hospital and my GP. The reception staff are consistently discourteous. They cancelled my appointment and then ludicrously claimed it was never booked, despite me having photographic proof of the booking. They were suggesting I was fabricating an excuse for a missed appointment. After considerable argument, they eventually acknowledged their system had cancelled the appointment and provided zero notification. Based on what I've heard, there are significantly superior medical practices in this area. I will absolutely be transferring my care, as my experience with this GP's services has been thoroughly unsatisfactory.

Unhelpful staff during son's worrying health scare

I was advised by medical staff about my son's unusual adverse reaction, with instructions to monitor his condition and seek emergency care if he deteriorated. They suggested calling back if his symptoms worsened, which I did when he developed a fever. Unfortunately, I missed their return call while comforting my distressed child. Upon attempting to explain the situation to the receptionist, I was met with extreme discourtesy. She flatly stated that the doctor would not call back, apparently acting on his direct instructions. I am absolutely stunned by the unprofessional and callous treatment from this healthcare practice.

Unhelpful manager dismissed my medical concerns

The patient manager's service is extremely discourteous and refuses to take responsibility for mistakes made by her administrative team. She dismissively conveyed that my concerns were trivial compared to other patients' more critical issues. Whenever I attempt to follow up on the status of my results, she repeatedly claims she has already addressed the matter and dismisses it as not her concern. Additionally, the patient service manager suggested I contact St George lab directly about the errors or missing results, but when I did so, the lab informed me that patients should not be contacting them and all requests must go through the GP office. This entire experience has been deeply frustrating, and as a result, my family and I have decided to seek care from a different medical practice.

Terrible service with chest pain emergency

This medical practice is absolutely the worst I've encountered! There was no functioning queue system When I attempted to phone for an appointment at 7:30 am, I was left waiting endlessly with no response Upon visiting reception on Monday to secure an appointment, they only scheduled a phone consultation for Friday, despite my visibly labored breathing and intense chest pain. The receptionist showed zero compassion and essentially condemned me to suffer until Friday I waited until my scheduled phone appointment on Friday at 3:10 pm with a specific practitioner. At 2:41 pm, she sent a voicemail claiming she had tried calling me multiple times and demanding I reschedule. If an appointment is set for 3:10 pm, I expect the call at that precise time, not 29 minutes early. Why should I now restart the entire process? I'll be forced to wait another five days for a phone consultation when I urgently need an in-person examination to assess my chest pain. 20.01.2023 Niginakhon Absalyamova
