Patient Experience Summary

Feedback reveals a practice significantly challenged by appointment access and booking system dysfunction. Patients consistently report difficulty reaching the surgery by phone, with congested lines and limited same-day availability creating barriers to care.

The reception experience emerges as a persistent concern, with multiple accounts of discourteous and dismissive interactions, though some patients describe supportive staff. In contrast, clinical staff including doctors and nursing teams receive frequent praise for professionalism, compassion, and medical competence, with particular recognition for vaccination programme efficiency and responsive care during urgent situations. The disconnect between strong clinical performance and administrative dysfunction represents the core tension in patient feedback, with many attributing their decision to switch practices to booking frustrations rather than clinical concerns.

Worst Surgery Experience in Tilehurst Village

If I could rate this surgery lower, I absolutely would. - Booking an appointment with GPs is an absolute nightmare. Even if you miraculously secure one, expect to waste at least 45 minutes waiting beyond your scheduled time. GPs consistently run behind schedule. - The receptionists are shockingly discourteous. They dismissively direct patients to walking centers or Chancellor house, despite me living just 2 minutes away. Why should I be redirected elsewhere? - Their reception staff's behavior is appallingly unprofessional. They're perpetually grumpy and rude, and create an uncomfortable environment by laughing loudly and joking while patients wait. - I spent over a month pleading for a baby vaccination appointment. Their standard response was a dismissive "sorry, no appointments available" - which is particularly problematic since patients can't register with multiple surgeries. - One morning I was told a specific GP's name, but after waiting an extra hour, a completely different GP called me! The resulting confusion was compounded by the receptionist's typical unhelpful and rude response. - While a couple of GPs are decent, most seem disinterested, interrupting patients and preventing them from fully explaining their concerns. - The only saving grace is the exceptionally kind and competent nursing staff. This is undoubtedly the most disorganized medical practice I've encountered, and I'm relieved to have switched. My advice: steer clear of this surgery. Congratulations to the Tilehurst village surgery management for maintaining such remarkable dysfunction.

Rude Receptionists Caused My Mental Health Crisis

Appalling, A dysfunctional medical practice staffed by discourteous, idle, and inept front desk staff who seemingly aim to obstruct or minimize patient needs, I've experienced ongoing difficulties obtaining my medication With them consistently neglecting to review correspondence from Prospect Park Hospital concerning my medication and prescribed dosage Resulting in them outright denying my prescription requests, which ultimately forced me to be readmitted to the mental health crisis team due to the overwhelming stress they inflicted. I strongly advise seeking treatment elsewhere; even the medical professionals I've consulted, who are far more competent than the receptionists believe themselves to be, were disgusted by the complete absence of care and effort demonstrated by this reprehensible establishment

Frustrating Booking at Tylehurst Village Surgery

Regrettably, I find myself echoing the sentiments expressed in other reviews about this medical practice. Over the past year, securing a doctor's appointment has become increasingly challenging. The majority of consultations are exclusively reserved in person at the surgery between 8 and 8:20 AM, and their telephone lines are consistently congested. This past Friday, we were compelled to take my son to the walk-in centre due to the complete lack of available appointments at Tylehurst Village Surgery. While the physicians themselves appear professionally competent, the practice seems critically short-staffed.

Rude Receptionist Ruined Our Doctor Visit

My daughter was sent home from school, and the pharmacist advised an immediate doctor's consultation due to potential scarlet fever. The receptionist at the surgery was an absolute nightmare - she berated my mother for bringing the child in and completely refused any assistance. Expect a formal complaint heading your way. Your staff are completely unqualified, discourteous, and utterly useless. Congratulations on making an 11-year-old child burst into tears. You should be ashamed. Goodbye.

Terrible surgery with unhelpful receptionists

I'm completely in alignment with the previous comments about this medical practice - it's a total disaster. The front desk staff are discourteous, and the physicians consistently fail to follow through on their commitment to contact patients, not to mention how challenging it is to even schedule an initial consultation. Steer clear of this place.

Decent Doctors, Terrible Front Desk

The medical professionals provide adequate care, provided you can actually reach them when necessary. However, the practice is severely undermined by ineffective administrative processes and a reception team that is consistently discourteous, unhelpful, dismissive, careless, and lacking in empathy.

Awful Receptionist Ruined My Medical Experience

Truly, this medical practice is an absolute nightmare. While the medical staff are incredibly compassionate and skilled, the front desk personnel are shockingly unprofessional, hostile, and downright miserable!!!! I ended my phone call with the receptionist in floods of tears due to her complete lack of empathy and total unwillingness to assist me when I was desperately seeking a phone consultation during my severe depressive episode. If I could rate this experience lower than one star, I absolutely would, as even a single star seems far too generous.

Endless Wait and Rude Staff at Local Surgery

This medical practice is a complete disaster. Getting in touch with the reception desk is a nightmare. On the rare occasion you manage to connect, you're met with a discourteous and obstructive staff member who clearly wants to end the call as quickly as possible. If you're seeking an appointment, you'll need to predict your health issue months in advance, as the waiting list stretches to an absurd six weeks. The sole redeeming quality of this surgery is that the medical professionals themselves are reasonably supportive, provided you're willing to be tenacious and push through the administrative obstacles.

Waited Hours for Basic Advice

After scheduling a consultation, I arrived punctually only to endure an extended wait beyond the appointed time because they claimed to be overwhelmed, ultimately receiving the most basic medical advice—essentially being told to take a common pain reliever and hydrate—which could have easily been communicated via a simple telephone conversation.
