Patient feedback reveals a stark contrast between clinical care quality and appointment access challenges. When patients successfully reach medical professionals, they consistently report excellent clinical care, with doctors and nurses demonstrating compassion, thoroughness, and responsiveness. However, accessing this care presents significant barriers. The appointment booking system creates widespread frustration, with patients describing phone lines as overwhelmed, same-day slots filling within minutes of the 8am opening window, and reception staff sometimes displaying discourtesy rather than support. Multiple patients report spending extended periods attempting phone contact without success, with some resorting to walk-in clinics or private providers due to inability to secure appointments through standard channels.
While some patients have successfully navigated online booking systems or experienced efficient service, the dominant pattern across reviews indicates systemic access difficulties that undermine the practice's otherwise strong clinical reputation. Reception experience varies considerably, with some praising staff warmth and professionalism whilst others report dismissive or unhelpful interactions. The practice's communication processes, particularly around phone availability and booking procedures, require substantial improvement to match the quality of care delivered once patients reach clinical staff.

Caring doctors helped my ear infection
Getting an initial consultation required some patience, but the physicians I consulted were incredibly supportive. The clinic's scheduling and workflow challenges aren't their fault, and I hold no grudge about the wait. I'm truly appreciative that the two female medical professionals who treated my ear infection were compassionate and attentive. My sincere gratitude to them.

Bad!
Frustrating phone consultations every single time
I've been taking prescribed medication requiring periodic medical assessments for more than twelve months. Throughout this entire time, I have not once been able to meet face-to-face with a physician at this medical practice. If you're fortunate, you might receive a telephone consultation, which is the maximum level of interaction available.

Quick response for morning health issue
I initiated an online consultation with the surgery early this morning at 8 AM, and by 9:40 AM, I had received a response from the doctor, along with a prescription sent directly to the pharmacy for my medical issue. I want to express my sincere gratitude to all the doctors and reception staff who consistently demonstrate friendliness and helpfulness, especially while working under such intense pressure during these challenging times. Having been a patient at this practice for many years, I wholeheartedly recommend their services.

Terrible scheduling and rude staff
Getting an appointment here is a nightmare, and even when you finally connect with staff, their attitude is far from welcoming. The customer service is frustratingly poor and makes you feel completely disregarded.

Eastney reception staff were truly compassionate
During my time at the Eastney reception today, I observed the exceptional service provided by the practice's staff. Three different receptionists were handling patient interactions with remarkable compassion, attentiveness, and thoroughness. The waiting patients were understanding and appreciative, recognizing the high-quality care being delivered. When medical assistance is required, the GPs at this practice truly demonstrate their commitment to excellent healthcare.

Waited 18 months for one nurse visit
I desperately want to award zero stars, but the app prevents it. These are undoubtedly the most incompetent medical professionals I've ever encountered. Let me clarify: the staff are courteous and pleasant. However, after being a patient here for a year and a half, I've only managed to see a nurse a single time. Considering my ongoing health complications, my previous GP would schedule regular quarterly check-ups. In stark contrast, this practice won't even answer their telephone. Absolutely disgraceful.

Poor!
Booking nightmare at the clinic now
The facility's ease of access has significantly deteriorated recently. It's now impossible to schedule an appointment in person. With luck, you might receive a return call eventually. While the staff undoubtedly work diligently, they seem unaware of the substandard patient experience as of November 2022.

Caring doctor helped us through illness
I recently battled Pneumonia and am now on the path to healing. I'm grateful to Dr Jack Collins. Throughout my interactions, TMGP has consistently provided excellent care. My husband is currently feeling unwell, and Dr Collins consulted with him via telephone, recommending appropriate medication for his condition. He advised us to reach out to the surgery if his symptoms persist. Dr Collins also checked in with me by phone and confirmed that my recovery is proceeding well, which I agree is the case. We are extremely satisfied with our general practitioner.

I'm truly grateful for their assistance and want to send them all my best wishes! I couldn't speak more highly of this fantastic practice 🐸 🌟

Impossible to book an appointment anywhere
The healthcare system here is fundamentally flawed, with hardworking individuals struggling to secure medical appointments. Despite paying substantial annual national insurance and having employer-provided health coverage, I'm still unable to book a consultation. The practice's phone line is perpetually congested; the moment you attempt to schedule an appointment, you're met with a message about full lines and forced to disconnect. I attempted an online booking, but the system was inconclusive and redirected me back to the office phone. Furthermore, my work commitments outside Portsmouth prevent me from queuing during weekdays, and the centre's weekend closure makes appointment scheduling virtually impossible. This demonstrates the system's complete dysfunction. It appears that unrestricted medical access is granted to newcomers, while loyal citizens who contribute significant tax revenues and maintain additional insurance are systematically neglected. The government requires a comprehensive overhaul, and this medical centre desperately needs to enhance its patient management and customer service approach. My rating acknowledges only the dedicated staff who are overwhelmed and operating under immense pressure.

Wasted time and zero help at surgery
I've just wasted ninety minutes trapped in their endless phone queue. When I physically went to the medical center and displayed the message on my phone indicating my call's significance, I was dismissively informed that their phone lines were shut and I should return at 8 AM. This healthcare provider demonstrates absolute contempt for its patients.

Nightmare at the front desk
The reception staff's ineptitude and discourtesy are so profound that it would be insulting to other incompetent individuals to compare them. They're so clueless that if you gave them a dictionary, they'd struggle to find the index and would likely inquire about it with unnecessary volume. There might be one somewhat capable physician and previously a couple of decent nurses, but their potential is entirely negated by the nightmare of navigating the reception area.

Waited 50 minutes for no appointments
Been attempting to connect for 72 hours, and when I finally got through after a grueling 50-minute phone wait, all I was told was that no appointments were accessible! It was barely past 9:45 in the morning, and I'm completely baffled by their operational methods! They desperately need to improve their efficiency. I'm thoroughly frustrated and will definitely be switching healthcare providers.

Phone wait was a real struggle
Getting in touch via telephone is incredibly frustrating. I attempted multiple calling strategies repeatedly, yet it consumed 45 minutes of my time (which is why I'm giving 4 stars). Nevertheless, once I finally connected, the GP's provided outstanding service. I received timely referrals as needed, and the staff demonstrated genuine compassion and professionalism. Considering the subpar experiences I've heard about from other local practices, I'm genuinely grateful that Trafalgar stands out as one of the superior healthcare providers and truly merits acknowledgment for their excellent approach.

Phone system from customer service hell
Terrible customer support with an incredibly frustrating communication process. Their phone system seems intentionally complex, making it almost impossible to connect with a representative or schedule an appointment. The entire experience is extremely unsatisfactory and poorly designed.

Responsive team during online consultation
From my perspective, this medical practice stands out as commendable. They demonstrated excellent responsiveness to digital communication and were consistently supportive. Those criticizing their general practitioners nationwide should redirect their frustration towards governmental policies that have systematically underfunded healthcare services. At their core, GPs are compassionate professionals who entered their field with genuine intentions of providing care. Continually disparaging these healthcare workers risks driving them away, which would ultimately lead to broader societal detriment...
