Patient Experience Summary

Feedback reveals a mixed picture of service quality across the practice. Positive experiences centre on reception staff courtesy, professional demeanour, and responsive communication. Several patients praised the welcoming nature of front desk personnel and their willingness to go beyond standard expectations when resolving issues such as prescription problems. Clinical staff have been noted for compassionate care and supportive interactions during screening and routine appointments.

However, significant concerns emerge around appointment access and booking procedures. Multiple patients reported difficulty scheduling appointments, with some practices refusing advance bookings and insisting on same-day contact only. Communication responsiveness presents another challenge, with extended wait times to reach the practice by phone despite being registered patients. Long waiting times and perceived gaps in continuity of care have also been mentioned, particularly regarding follow-up support for patients with complex medical needs.

Additionally, some patients expressed concerns about the care experience itself, citing perceived lack of empathy and inflexible approaches to clinical decision-making. These varied experiences suggest inconsistency in service delivery across different aspects of the practice, with reception and administrative functions receiving notably more positive feedback than appointment access and clinical responsiveness.

I will be reporting this to the CQC

The doctor refused to prescribe antibiotics for an infection I developed after having a tooth removed privately, which cost me over £400. Due to the lack of NHS dentists, I had no choice but to go private. Now that I have an infection, the doctor advised me to return to the dentist for a prescription, but with the cost being £75, I simply cannot afford it as I’m on disability. I explained my financial situation to the doctor, but he still refused to help. Additionally, I mentioned that I had developed a stye, and again, no treatment was offered. The lack of care and compassion was deeply disappointing. I will be reporting this to the CQC, as I feel the doctor failed to provide the necessary care.

Impressed by the outstanding service provided

After recently moving from Aylesbury to Lincoln, I registered with Trent Valley Surgery and have been thoroughly impressed by the outstanding service provided. From day one, the reception staff have been incredibly helpful and attentive to my needs. I’ve had to call the surgery three times, and each time, the ladies at reception went above and beyond to assist me. On one occasion, there was an issue with my repeat prescription being mistakenly sent to my old pharmacy in Aylesbury (no fault of Trent Valley Surgery). The team promptly advised me on how to resolve the matter, ensuring I received my prescription the same day. This experience has been a refreshing change from my previous doctor's office in Aylesbury, where it was often a struggle to get things done. The efficiency and helpfulness at Trent Valley Surgery have made my transition to Lincoln so much easier. A big thank you to the entire team at Trent Valley Surgery for your excellent service and for always being so helpful on the phone!

Fantastic surgery with caring and helpful staff

Upon moving from Aylesbury to Lincoln, I enrolled with Trent Valley Surgery and have been genuinely delighted with their exceptional care. Right from the start, the front desk personnel have demonstrated remarkable friendliness and professionalism. I've needed to contact the surgery three times, and on each occasion, the reception staff have been incredibly supportive and went far beyond standard expectations. A specific situation arose with my repeat prescription, which had accidentally been directed to my previous pharmacy in Aylesbury (through no error on Trent Valley Surgery's part). The reception team quickly guided me through resolving the issue, ensuring I could collect my medication that very same day. This caliber of service stands in sharp contrast to my previous experiences in Aylesbury, where interacting with my former medical practice was consistently frustrating. The remarkable efficiency and genuine helpfulness of Trent Valley Surgery's staff have significantly eased my relocation process. My sincere appreciation goes to the entire team at Trent Valley Surgery for your outstanding support and consistently helpful telephone manner!

Unhelpful doctor leaves patient suffering without treatment

I sought medical assistance after a costly private dental extraction, only to be met with complete indifference from the doctor. Despite explaining that I had developed an infection and cannot afford to return to the dentist for a prescription due to being on disability benefits, the physician flatly refused to provide any antibiotics. I also mentioned a developing sty, which he similarly dismissed without concern. His lack of compassion and unwillingness to help is utterly unacceptable. This doctor demonstrates zero professional care or empathy for a patient's medical needs. I will definitely be filing a formal complaint with the Care Quality Commission to ensure such unprofessional treatment is addressed.

Terrible service and frustrating phone experience

Spent over 60 minutes on a call, only to discover that reception staff had just returned from a break, despite the office being open since 8am. To make matters worse, they refuse to book appointments in advance and will only schedule on the same day you contact them. Definitely looking to switch healthcare providers due to this frustrating experience.

Terrible healthcare system leaves patient frustrated

Appalling how medical practices nowadays handle patient care, with general practitioners quickly dispatching patients to Accident and Emergency for trivial matters. It's no surprise the emergency departments are completely overwhelmed.

Poor!

Frustrating experience with unhelpful medical surgery staff

I've attempted to reach out to the medical practice regarding a recurring referral, but every proposal aimed at streamlining the process and reducing costs was summarily dismissed. Their uniform rejection demonstrates a lack of flexibility, as a single, rigid response cannot adequately address all scenarios. It would be refreshing to encounter a more proactive and accommodating approach.
