Patient Experience Summary

Feedback reflects a mixed experience with significant challenges in appointment access and communication systems, alongside notable strengths in clinical care. Patients consistently report difficulty scheduling consultations, with many describing lengthy phone queues, restrictive booking windows limited to early morning hours, and unavailable online systems. Long waiting times in reception areas and delays in receiving test results or medication reviews feature prominently across multiple reviews. Phone access remains a persistent barrier, with callers experiencing extended hold times or being unable to reach staff. Medication management issues, including delayed prescriptions and prescription misplacement, have caused concern for several patients.

Conversely, when patients do access clinical services, physicians and nursing staff receive strong recognition for compassionate, attentive care and professional medical expertise. Reception staff courtesy and helpfulness are noted positively in several accounts, and vaccination services were praised for efficient organisation. Some patients acknowledge the practice's broader capacity constraints while appreciating the dedication of individual team members.

The booking experience and communication systems require urgent modernisation to better serve working professionals and patients with time constraints. While clinical quality appears consistently strong, the barriers to accessing appointments and obtaining timely responses undermine overall service effectiveness and patient confidence in the practice.

Bad!

Long Wait, Useless Spray

I've been a patient at this practice for three decades, thankfully with minimal visits. When I phoned in the morning about breathing difficulties, I was instructed to call back at 1pm! Fine, I called back and was scheduled for a 4:10pm appointment!! I emphasized my breathing struggle, but... 4:10 it remained. I arrived early at 3:50 and checked in. Two patients ahead - seemed promising. However, I then endured an hour in the waiting room watching later arrivals get seen before me. Upon questioning the receptionist about the delay, miraculously I was suddenly next. During my consultation, after explaining my symptoms, the doctor used a stethoscope and diagnosed an ear and throat infection, declaring "I'll give you a spray" - to which I quickly challenged, "Shouldn't I have antibiotics?" No need, apparently. This £2 miracle spray was supposedly going to resolve everything. Four days later, having diligently followed spray instructions, absolutely nothing has improved. As someone who rarely uses this surgery, I found the entire experience utterly disappointing. After three days of futile spraying, I resorted to throat lozenges and paracetamol. I'm immensely relieved my children aren't registered here, and I'm grateful I can change practices. I'm genuinely disappointed and would not trust them with anything remotely serious.

Quick Cancer Diagnosis Saved My Life

I've never encountered any issues here. My late partner was an amputee with complex health challenges, yet he consistently received same-day or next-day medical attention. During my initial consultation, they successfully diagnosed my cancer, and the subsequent treatment was exceptional. I've found the physicians to be genuinely compassionate, taking ample time during appointments without rushing. Having relocated from England two years ago, I can confidently say this medical practice is vastly superior to what I experienced back home, where waiting two weeks for an appointment was the norm.
