Amazing Experience

I recently visited the GP regarding my ankle problem and had a really positive experience. The staff were very attentive, listened carefully to my concerns, and acted quickly to help me. I was referred to physiotherapy quickly and also managed to get an ultrasound arranged all within a week, which I really appreciated. The whole process felt efficient and well organised, and I was genuinely cared for throughout.

Painful cyst and 30-minute wait

After enduring a 30-minute wait, I finally reach the receptionist, who turns out to be incredibly discourteous. As someone struggling with anxiety and ADHD, I needed to discuss my status on the GB waiting list and review my medication. The receptionist immediately reprimands me for not scheduling the medication appointment earlier, then provides a slot for the following week. When I mention needing a GP appointment, she dismisses me and tells me to call back tomorrow. While explaining a painful cyst, I notice a slight shift in her tone. She then refers me to the pharmacy next door, which is helpful, but during her harsh scolding, I completely forgot to mention my urgent ADHD-related GP appointment that my university requires. I sincerely wish the staff would show more compassion. For individuals battling mental health challenges, something as simple as making a phone call can be incredibly overwhelming. A little kindness and understanding would make a world of difference.

Scary day without epilepsy meds

I was denied my critical anti-epilepsy prescription because their general practitioner was away on vacation. The front desk staff was incredibly dismissive until I forcefully emphasized that without my medication, I risked experiencing a potentially life-threatening seizure. Only after I pointedly highlighted that individuals with disabilities should not be subjected to the clinic's negligent practices did she promptly acknowledge their duty of care.

The medical staff, including doctors and nurses, are exceptional, but the receptionists initially appear courteous before quickly becoming abrupt and dismissive. I rely on a daily prescription for debilitating migraines that cause severe pain, vision loss, speech difficulties, and disorientation, and I follow the recommended repeat prescription process. After receiving a text prompting me to call, I discovered from the receptionist that I couldn't refill my medication because the prescription had expired. Critically, no prior communication during my interactions with medical professionals indicated this impending expiration or suggested I should discontinue the medication under any circumstances, especially given the severe symptoms I've previously experienced. While the receptionist did extend my prescription's expiry date, her approach was curt. She consistently interrupted my questions, providing no substantive answers, and ended the call before I could understand crucial details like when my prescription would resume, whether I needed to schedule an appointment, if they would contact me, or the specific date of my prescription extension. Having navigated multiple medication regimens to manage my condition, which already significantly disrupts my daily life, this interaction felt particularly alienating. The situation underscores a desperate need for greater compassion and attentiveness from support staff.

Kind doctors saved the day

The general practitioners at this medical center are truly exceptional. Dr. Katana, Dr. Noble, and a compassionate Black nurse who has been working there for over two years are the highlight of this practice. However, the reception staff desperately need improvement, as their conduct is unacceptably rude and disrespectful. I experienced a particularly offensive interaction when calling to schedule an appointment for my ill partner. The receptionist's response, "Is he not adult enough to speak for himself!", was completely inappropriate. When I pointed out the inappropriateness of her comment, she refused to book an appointment. I've given this surgery a two-star rating because while the doctors are outstanding, the reception staff's behavior is deplorable and falls far below basic standards of professional communication and respect.
