This surgery stands out as the most helpful and efficient medical practice I've ever encountered, while maintaining absolute professionalism. When you contact them about seeing a doctor, they typically return your call within half an hour. Their approach is genuinely compassionate, and they readily offer same-day face-to-face consultations when required. Doctors consistently follow up with test results via telephone. During my time here, I needed a wheelchair service referral, which was processed immediately - they genuinely go above and beyond. This exceptional attitude seems to permeate the entire organization. Unlike stereotypical receptionists who can feel like barriers, these staff members are incredibly supportive, actively helping patients access necessary services and maintaining excellent communication with the in-house pharmacy. Ultimately, although I'll be leaving Manchester within a year, I'm so impressed that if it were possible, I would gladly travel from Essex just to continue receiving care here. As a healthcare professional with over three decades of NHS experience, I cannot emphasize enough how outstanding this practice is.

Abysmal customer service, with a receptionist who is both irritating and discourteous. They consistently fail to return calls or deliberately ring once, preventing you from picking up. Even when you're first in line, wait times exceed 20 minutes before anyone answers. They adamantly reject providing complimentary vaccinations or offering any professional guidance. There's a complete lack of communication regarding exam outcomes, and physician encounters are infrequent, with a different doctor almost every time you manage to see one.

My initial scheduling encounter was abruptly disrupted when the appointment was unexpectedly called off. Moreover, the front desk staff member displays a somewhat discourteous demeanor.

After relocating to the area about a year ago, I joined Dr Ngan and partners' medical practice. I can confidently say this is the most exceptional healthcare provider I've encountered, especially compared to my previous practice at Ailsa Craig, which was so subpar it made me anxious about finding quality care. The practice manager Sabia is outstanding, and the receptionists like Sharon, Nicola, Becky, and Beth are incredibly supportive. I can always call the surgery, and they genuinely listen to my concerns, despite the building housing three separate practices: Dr Ngan's, Dr Chiu's, and Dr Cunningham's. Regarding the GPs, they are truly top-notch - no exaggeration. Every doctor at Dr Ngan's practice is exceptional and provides excellent care. I am extremely satisfied with this surgery, from the reception staff to the doctors. They always make time for patients and are remarkably understanding. You can call at 8:30 am, get on the callback list, and typically receive a GP consultation within a couple of hours. FANTASTIC DR NGAN AND PRACTICE, KEEP UP THE GREAT WORK DESPITE THE NHS CHALLENGES.

Severe headache led to life-threatening medical misdiagnosis

MEDICAL MALPRACTICE! After experiencing a dreadful encounter with Robert Darbishire Practice, I switched to Dr. Ngan and Partners in February 2023. Initially, I was highly satisfied with the swift appointment scheduling. However, the situation rapidly deteriorated. 1. A debilitating and unrelenting headache began on 2nd February 2023 and persisted throughout the month. No medication, including migraine treatments, provided relief. During two telephone consultations, Dr. Ngan agreed it was likely a sinus headache and prescribed corresponding medications, which failed to alleviate the pain. After three weeks, I emphasized the excruciating pain that confined me to bed and requested an MRI or CT scan, which was repeatedly denied. No referral to a neurologist or ENT specialist was made, despite the headache's severity and duration. 2. I had previously visited the ER earlier in the month but couldn't see a doctor due to long wait times, hoping to convey the headache's intensity. 3. On 24th February, I secured an in-person appointment. The doctor diagnosed a migraine and prescribed medication AGAIN, despite my previous statement that no treatments worked. I twice requested scan referrals, which were rejected. The doctor claimed "nothing specific" would be revealed and would only refer me to a neurologist if the headache persisted. 4. On 26th February, I called an ambulance due to exponentially increasing pain, feeling my right eye might burst. With fever and vomiting, I was told my vitals were normal. On 27th, I hysterically called Dr. Ngan, requesting urgent consultation but was informed no appointments were available. 5. I had previously been prescribed Co-codamol, then Ibuprofen. During the final consultation, despite taking Ibuprofen for ten consecutive days, I was again advised to use it for pain management. 6. Feeling completely abandoned, I traveled home to India on 28th for urgent treatment. The 22-hour journey was agonizing. Investigations revealed a rare, extremely severe Sphenoid sinus infection. Scans showed the infection had progressed so critically that delayed treatment would have caused vision loss or brain damage. The infection had eroded the sinus-brain barrier and required immediate surgery. Doctors also noted that continuous painkiller use led to my blood-vomiting episode. PATIENT HISTORY IS CRUCIAL! I had previously informed the GP about a 2020 scuba diving injury causing similar headaches, which was entirely disregarded. Indian doctors discovered the infection likely originated from this incident, with its final trigger in 2023.

Unprofessional service left me frustrated and unheard

I was discussing my foot condition with a receptionist, detailing the intense discomfort I've been experiencing for several weeks, and seeking to schedule a comprehensive consultation. To my shock, the receptionist abruptly terminated the call and dismissed my concerns, telling me to handle the issue independently. Such treatment is completely unacceptable. While I acknowledge that staff members may have personal challenges, these should never be projected onto patients seeking medical assistance.

Recently returned to Manchester and scheduled a medical consultation. I want to express my heartfelt gratitude to Dr. Koh, Dr. Gan, and Dr. Robert Chiu for their exceptional professionalism and compassionate care ❤ These doctors consistently demonstrate a genuine commitment to understanding patients' concerns. Additionally, I'd like to acknowledge the receptionist staff for their outstanding support.
