Great service despite long waiting times

There's a considerable wait time when scheduling appointments, but having spent two decades in London, I'm quite accustomed to this from the various GP practices I've been registered with during my numerous relocations. So it's not a significant concern for me 😉 Regarding the service quality, I'm thoroughly satisfied as I've been well-attended with routine consultations, courteous reception staff, and competent physicians. When requiring an urgent appointment, I was able to see a GP either the same day or within 48 hours at most. If the waiting period seems excessive, they recommend calling 111 for more immediate assistance, which strikes me as perfectly reasonable. I would absolutely endorse this medical centre to others.

Unfortunately, the administrative department falls short in email communication, with three messages remaining unaddressed, which is thoroughly unsatisfactory. Some phlebotomy staff require improvement in their approach, particularly in handling patients who experience anxiety around blood draws, and could benefit from developing more compassionate and reassuring communication techniques.

Quick response and professional medical care

I contacted VMC at 09:15 and asked for a return call. They responded within roughly 3 minutes. After describing my symptoms, the receptionist determined I needed to see a GP urgently. An appointment was scheduled for 11:45, and I was seen precisely at that time. The doctor diagnosed a serious chest infection and prescribed antibiotics. From my initial phone inquiry to beginning treatment, the total time was around 3 hours. The practice delivered outstanding service and boasts truly impressive medical facilities.

Heartless reception staff failed my dying father

After careful consideration, I feel compelled to share my deeply distressing experience. The reception staff's lack of comprehension is absolutely appalling. Earlier this year, my mother attempted to secure a GP appointment for my father, who was battling a terminal illness, but was callously informed they couldn't schedule anything until May. Tragically, he passed away in April, and at the time, the staff displayed complete indifference to his critical medical condition. They insisted he could only communicate with his doctor through a formal appointment and refused to even allow my mother to leave a message, with one receptionist dismissively claiming she would just be directed to make an appointment. Ironically, his physician was personally calling my mother at 7 pm to check on their needs. The behavior of these front desk employees towards patients facing terminal diagnoses is unacceptable. The management and leadership absolutely must implement comprehensive retraining to ensure staff understand the gravity of terminal illnesses and the urgent need for immediate medical access and compassionate support.

Caring health team supports our family needs

Our family has consistently received excellent care, initially at Green St Surgery and more recently at the VMC. Although we haven't directly consulted our GP, we've been attended to by empathetic and skilled healthcare professionals whenever necessary. Great service at vmc medical center

Initially located on Green Street, I've had no problems with VMC. They're somewhat overextended, but that's understandable given the town's population has now surpassed 100,000 - certainly not their fault. Update: I dropped by the surgery on a whim, hoping they might accommodate my needs. They were incredibly helpful and processed my request smoothly and without hesitation. People should stop dwelling on potential drawbacks, as I personally haven't encountered any negative experiences. Kudos to the team! Justin, Ocklynge Heating Services.
