Their telephone support is dismally inadequate - even when you manage to connect, you're frequently advised to reattempt the following day. For someone dealing with mental health challenges, the simple desire to consult with my regular family doctor has become an incredibly frustrating experience.

I've been a patient at this medical practice for half a decade. During this time, I've experienced multiple frustrating interactions. One physician outright refused to authorize a blood test to investigate my health concerns and suggested I pursue a referral because of my hospital employment. Despite a nurse from the NHS Trust informing me that I should have been fast-tracked to a clinic with shorter wait times, I endured over a year's delay for a simple smear test. A telephone consultation with another doctor proved entirely unproductive, with no follow-up on routine blood work. Although I require regular medical monitoring, it seems my care falls through administrative cracks. The service is fundamentally incompetent and profoundly patient-unfriendly. Appointment availability is practically non-existent - I waited two months for a routine consultation, and when calling, I've encountered wait lists of around 20 people. While the surgery boasts an attractive, modern facility, they are critically understaffed with physicians. The administrative staff are consistently courteous, and some nursing personnel are pleasant, though this isn't universally true. Overall, the experience is deeply disappointing and fails to meet basic healthcare standards.

The reception staff are incredibly welcoming and empathetic, recognizing that patients aren't always at their best and going above and beyond to provide support. The Practice Manager has been truly exceptional! Most of the doctors are superb, meticulously working to identify the right diagnosis and clearly explaining their approach to helping patients. Regrettably, government constraints with extended waiting lists undermine the doctors' efforts, often forcing patients to repeatedly visit for interim medication until specialist consultation becomes available. The medical center's premises are immaculately maintained, with abundant health-related literature displayed throughout the waiting areas. The physiotherapy services fell short of my expectations, and I was starkly reminded that certain treatments would require extensive waiting periods unless I opted for private care. Despite this, I've generally experienced outstanding healthcare at Victoria Road Medical Centre. While I've encountered some challenges, these may stem from occasional lapses in empathetic understanding. The one critically important element that sometimes seems missing. However, I choose not to conclude on a negative note, acknowledging that we are all fundamentally human.
