Reception staff made booking appointments really straightforward

I cannot thank this surgery enough. A clinician suggested a medication to me earlier in the year due to my weight and back issues. I wasn't convinced at first as I'd tried numerous approaches and given up, unable to make progress. Today I am significantly lighter, having lost a considerable amount of weight. I've experienced few side effects, mainly minor digestive discomfort, but without a doubt this has been the best decision I've ever made. I feel so much more healthy and my confidence has had a massive boost. So thank you to everyone at the surgery.

Dismissive doctors who wouldn't listen to concerns

I have had very negative experiences with some of the medical staff at this practice. On multiple occasions, both my concerns and those of my family members have not been taken seriously. There appears to be an attitude of superiority that undermines patients' own understanding of their health. I have found certain appointments particularly frustrating, where my health worries were not properly addressed, and I subsequently required emergency care that I feel could have been prevented with more attentive initial consultation.

I have never experienced any issues at this practice. The clinical team and support staff have consistently demonstrated helpfulness, kindness, compassion and encouragement. The care provided to my family member has been exceptional and I am very grateful for their support.

I have lost confidence in this GP surgery. When I was experiencing significant distress and requesting urgent support, I felt that the clinical team did not respond adequately to my needs. I was prescribed medication for a condition that I believe was not accurately diagnosed, when what I actually required was better pain management. I had to seek care elsewhere to receive what I felt was more appropriate treatment. There was also an instance where medication was prescribed that conflicted with my known allergies, and it took input from community healthcare staff to address this. The overall standard of care appears to have declined considerably from what it once was. On a positive note, the reception staff member was exceptionally helpful, welcoming, and compassionate throughout my experience. I am grateful for their support.

I would particularly like to highlight one clinician who supported me through a challenging period of illness in recent months, providing regular updates on test results via text message which significantly reduced my anxiety. The personalised attention given to my case was instrumental in my recovery. While the surgery is located outside my home city, I would confidently say it compares favourably to any practice in my area.

Initially, I felt confident about this surgery, but after several years I began to notice that the clinical team seemed unwilling to provide assistance. I would recommend considering alternative surgeries, as I found my experience with certain practitioners to be unsatisfactory. In my view, they lacked compassion when dealing with patients facing difficulties, and I felt their approach contributed to my concerns. I found interactions with some staff members to be dismissive and unhelpful, particularly when I needed guidance during a difficult situation. Despite my long-standing relationship with the practice, the lack of support ultimately led me to seek care elsewhere.

I am aware that some acquaintances mention difficulties in securing appointments elsewhere, however in my own experience and that of my family members, I have always been able to obtain an appointment promptly, frequently on the same day as requested.
