Patient Experience Summary

Feedback reveals a practice with significant operational and service challenges that dominate patient experience. Appointment availability emerges as a persistent concern, with patients reporting difficulty securing consultations and lengthy waits for access to clinicians. Reception experience is notably mixed, with some patients praising courtesy and professionalism whilst others describe staff as dismissive, abrupt, and unhelpful during booking interactions. Communication practices have shifted substantially towards text-based messaging, which patients find unsatisfactory for complex health concerns, particularly when messages do not permit replies.

Nursing staff consistently receive positive recognition for compassion and dedication across reviews. However, continuity of care is undermined by physician turnover, and some patients report feeling unheard or dismissed during consultations. Since the pandemic, there has been a marked reduction in face-to-face appointment availability, with patients expressing frustration at the reliance on remote consultations for conditions requiring physical examination. Several reviews highlight concerns about responsiveness to urgent referrals and follow-up on outstanding matters.

Whilst a minority of patients report satisfaction with care quality and staff professionalism, the predominant pattern reflects concerns about appointment access, booking organisation, reception courtesy variability, and the shift away from in-person consultations. These service aspects appear to have contributed to patient decisions to seek alternative healthcare providers.

Compassionate Care at My Doctor's Office

I want to express my sincere gratitude to the incredibly compassionate nurses and front desk staff, who have consistently demonstrated kindness and provided excellent assistance. I also extend my appreciation to the Practice Manager, who showed me tremendous warmth and support during my interactions.

Dropped from Surgery in West Coker

Terrible medical experience with an unprofessional practice. The moment they discovered I relocated from west Coker, they began bombarding me with daily phone calls, clearly aiming to remove me from their patient list. Their treatment is shockingly disrespectful and demonstrates a complete disregard for patient well-being. The staff's behavior is unacceptable and reflects a deeply flawed approach to healthcare!

Friendly Staff, Terrible Doctor Experience

The sole positive aspect of this facility lies with the front desk staff and nursing team. The constant rotation of physicians makes it nearly impossible to maintain continuity of care. This frequent turnover likely stems from the practice's lead doctor, who demonstrates an appalling lack of interpersonal communication and displays a dismissive, narrow-minded attitude, particularly towards older patients. His approach seems rigidly fixed, with zero openness to alternative perspectives.

Creepy Dr. Smith and Terrible Phone Staff

Absolutely terrible service across the board. The staff's phone manner is abrasive, they consistently misplace prescription orders, and the medical professionals seem disinterested in patient concerns. Dr. Smith is particularly unsettling. I was so frustrated that I chose to switch to a more distant medical practice just to avoid him! My advice: steer clear of this clinic and seek healthcare elsewhere.

Wasted Day at West Coker Clinic

I encountered a terrible situation today. After receiving a referral from 111 to be seen urgently for a chest infection and potential antibiotic prescription, the nurse who contacted me following my initial call clearly emphasized the need for immediate medical attention. However, at the West Coker clinic, the physician requested a urine sample to test for a UTI. I've consulted several medical professionals to understand the connection between a urinary tract infection and a chest infection, and the relationship remains completely ambiguous. It's evident that an error was made. Moreover, I was not examined by a doctor at all. I attempted to calmly explain my circumstances, but the receptionist was dismissive and entirely unsympathetic. I'm profoundly frustrated that I'm now forced to seek emergency care. This is absolutely unacceptable.

Terrible surgery with unhelpful Dr Smith

I'm thoroughly dissatisfied with this surgical procedure! Particularly with Dr. Smith's conduct, who was completely unhelpful during my time of need. I was forced to obtain my medication through an intermediary Absolutely repulsive 🤮 My partner also shared their terrible encounter with Dr. Smith and advised me to steer clear of him in the future, which I certainly intend to do!

Reception staff could improve their manner

I called the reception desk this morning to arrange appointments for both my daughter and myself. The person who answered was quite abrupt and dismissive in their manner. I was surprised by what seemed to be a lack of interpersonal skills. Perhaps a role that doesn't involve direct patient contact might be more suitable. Previously, I've generally found this practice to be satisfactory despite the negative feedback that appears online.

Doctors' Receptionists: Harder Than Ordering Pizza

Securing a direct conversation with a physician has become an arduous task, constantly blocked by administrative staff. Terrible experience with Dr. Smith's practice

I'm deeply disappointed and feel mistreated by this medical practice. The reception staff and Dr. Smith, who I believe is a competent physician, demonstrated an incredibly off-putting demeanor. The sheer level of disrespect, indifference, and unprofessionalism was absolutely shocking. I genuinely regret not documenting our interactions for future reference.

Dangerous Delay Nearly Cost Me My Sight

I reached out seeking guidance regarding a critical eye problem, detailing how I experienced temporary blindness, and was simply instructed to schedule an optician consultation. When I finally met with the eye specialist, they emphasized the need for an "urgent" hospital referral. They should have immediately directed me to the emergency department. Absolutely terrible!

Awful Reception Ruined My Doctor's Visit

The surgical experience was appalling, primarily due to the incredibly discourteous staff at the front desk. It's truly unfortunate because the medical professionals are genuinely kind and compassionate. However, the receptionist's abysmal attitude completely tarnishes the overall impression of the facility.
