Today (16/4/2026) I visited the Estuary View Urgent Treatment Centre, Whitstable, Kent and subsequently had a consultation with a gentleman called George who was/is a Nurse Practitioner. I wish to pay complement to George for his quite exceptional chair side manner, his overall communication style, his person-centred approach towards me and my health problem and at all times George adopted a biopsychosocial approach towards myself as a person and my needs. As a former healthcare professional myself for 52 years I have rarely come across such a most professional practitioner in all respects.

Long wait at new medical centre left unheard
I attended the urgent care facility at the local medical practice at approximately midday and was informed of a significant wait time. After waiting considerably longer than initially indicated, I had not yet been seen by a clinician. The newly refurbished facility appeared modern, however the service experience fell short of expectations. After an extended period without being called for treatment, I decided to leave without receiving care or consultation, and my condition remained unresolved.

Reception staff made dad feel genuinely supported
My elderly father is registered at a local medical centre and lives independently while managing several ongoing health conditions. As I live at a distance, I'm unable to provide regular support in person. The care my father receives from the surgery is exceptional, encompassing everyone from the administrative staff through to the clinical team. They are attentive to his medical requirements and, given his registered status as requiring home visits, they ensure he receives appointments as needed. This level of attention is tremendously reassuring to me as his daughter, knowing he is receiving appropriate care despite the geographical distance between us. It is a welcome contrast to my own experience with healthcare services where there is less continuity of care. I am genuinely grateful for the ongoing support and commitment the surgery demonstrates towards my father's wellbeing.

Staff made me feel comforted after my accident
As a visitor to the area from out of town, I must commend the medical centre entirely for their compassion, attentiveness and follow-up support. Following an unfortunate accident resulting in facial injuries and a possible fracture, the team responded promptly and efficiently. I was kept informed throughout my treatment and offered refreshments during my visit. Being alone at the time, I found the staff's reassuring manner particularly helpful in dealing with the distress of the incident. I am grateful to everyone involved for the excellent care I received in the emergency department.

Same-day appointment came through quickly this morning
Having previously been critical about the difficulty in obtaining GP appointments, I found myself needing medical support this morning and made a call at 08.00. I received a prompt callback from the Same Day Hub and was invited to attend for an appointment almost straight away. During my visit, I was impressed by the level of care I received. The clinician took time to listen to my concerns about how services have evolved and thoroughly discussed all of my issues, conducting a comprehensive assessment. They demonstrated genuine interest, thoughtfulness and excellent interpersonal skills throughout. Overall, I had an excellent experience today and departed feeling very satisfied and reassured. I'm grateful for the time given and the patient, attentive approach shown. The service provided was of a high standard and I would hope this positive feedback reaches the practice management.

Receptionist cut me off mid-explanation without listening
I typically experience excellent service at this practice, but I had a disappointing interaction today when I rang for a telephone consultation. My query was related to a respiratory illness, and whilst I was aware of the automated message directing patients to contact the national helpline for such matters, the national health service website suggested contacting my GP surgery instead. Following a difficult weekend, I felt it was important to speak with my usual doctor. Unfortunately, the receptionist terminated the call abruptly whilst I was still explaining my symptoms. Feeling vulnerable and upset, I then contacted the national helpline, who queried whether I had already tried my GP surgery, which left me feeling confused about where to seek help. The national helpline operator subsequently arranged a telephone consultation with a clinician at the surgery, which proved invaluable. I recognise that everyone is navigating challenging circumstances during this health crisis, but I feel the receptionist could have shown greater compassion and taken time to properly listen to the reason for my call without appearing dismissive. A more patient and understanding approach would have made me feel valued rather than like a burden.

Reception staff sent unclear appointment time instructions
One clinician at the practice has been excellent. However, I had a very different experience with another clinician. I work as a carer and was struggling with my mental health, which led to me taking time off work. When I needed a medical certificate, I felt the clinician's response was dismissive. I had a follow-up appointment today regarding a significant foot swelling issue. I explained my difficulty with attending in person due to mobility concerns, but felt my situation was not properly considered. The communication felt rushed and I did not feel heard during the consultation.
