Patient Experience Summary

Medical professionals at the practice are widely recognised as competent and skilled, with several patients praising their clinical expertise and compassionate approach to care. However, significant challenges persist across reception experience, appointment access, and communication. The reception experience is notably inconsistent, with some patients reporting helpful and welcoming staff whilst others describe unhelpful, dismissive, or discourteous interactions. Appointment availability remains a major concern, with patients struggling to secure in-person consultations, facing lengthy waiting lists, and encountering inflexible booking systems that rely heavily on telephone triage. Many patients report frustration with the practice's administrative processes, including poor communication about test results, delayed follow-ups, and inconsistent information about operating hours and scheduling policies.

The shift to telephone-based consultations has created particular difficulties for patients with work commitments or those requiring physical examinations. Waiting times for test results and specialist referrals are frequently cited as problematic, with patients reporting they must initiate contact rather than receiving proactive outreach from the practice. Whilst some patients have experienced responsive and efficient service, particularly from specific staff members, the overall pattern suggests organisational challenges in managing patient access and communication. Several patients have transferred to alternative practices due to these service issues, though others express appreciation for the medical care received once access is achieved.

Frustrating appointment mix-up at gp clinic

My GP physician talked through my medical issue and arranged a blood test. However, when I arrived for the appointment, no booking was found in their system. The staff acknowledged they could see the consultation details but were puzzled about why the test wasn't scheduled, ultimately rescheduling me for a week later. Their lack of organization makes me question their level of commitment and care.

Transphobic gp fails to provide basic healthcare

Avoid this medical practice if you're transgender, as they consistently obstruct hormone replacement therapy (HRT) prescriptions. They claim to require Gender Identity Clinic guidance, then repeatedly state uncertainty about administering treatment, despite the straightforward medical monitoring process being identical to other hormone treatments like those for menopausal patients. Their approach involves scheduling unnecessary meetings to debate whether they can provide care, revealing not just professional laziness but a fundamental incompetence in managing transgender patients' healthcare needs. The experience is deeply demoralizing, with physicians essentially admitting their inability to provide basic medical care, even after receiving clear professional guidance. Their conduct is both unprofessional and deeply dehumanizing, demonstrating a clear reluctance to support transgender patients' medical requirements.

Worst medical service ever patient communication nightmare

Absolutely dreadful experience. Unable to communicate with medical staff. No return calls and their sole response is to request I contact them again the next morning at 8:30. Both of my parents are currently hospitalized, and I've been attempting to get their physician to reach out to me. The response? A flat "not possible" and instructions to call back tomorrow. Zero communication. The reception staff were incredibly discourteous. Fortunately, I've already located an alternative medical practice.

Wimbledon medical practice fails patient expectations

My interaction with Wimbledon Medical Practice regarding blood tests has been nothing short of exasperating. An initial test with troubling results led me to schedule a follow-up, only to be told of a lab error requiring a third test. The subsequent results remained concerning, yet no one from the practice reached out to discuss them. I was forced to initiate contact and request a doctor's consultation. Even more frustrating, I was instructed to undergo a fourth blood test to monitor potential changes. Despite the apparent urgency, my appointment was scheduled two weeks later. Upon arrival, Nurse Eleanor struggled repeatedly to draw blood, citing my "difficult veins." When I mentioned never experiencing such issues with Nurse Bridgit, she unprofessionally responded that Bridgit is more experienced and currently away. This entire ordeal has profoundly undermined my confidence in the practice's standard of care and communication. The cycle of repeated tests, laboratory errors, extended waiting periods, and dismissive staff attitudes is completely unacceptable, particularly when potential health risks are involved. I sincerely hope the practice reflects on this feedback and takes meaningful steps to enhance patient communication and staff professionalism.

Worst medical experience ever with incompetent doctor

I've encountered the most abysmal medical service imaginable. They pressured me into scheduling a phone consultation, only to then declare they couldn't assist me remotely and demanded an immediate in-person nurse visit, followed by a doctor's appointment the subsequent week. They arbitrarily altered my appointment date without any notification and refused to address the complications they had caused. Consequently, I was forced to go without critical medication due to their administrative incompetence, all stemming from the doctor's scheduling error. The physician in question, Dr. Lakshman Jayanathan, demonstrated a complete lack of professional concern and compassion. I absolutely cannot recommend this medical practice to anyone under any circumstances.

Outdated practice with frustrating appointment system

Excellent medical professionals, but their administrative approach is woefully outdated... Beware if you have professional or personal responsibilities - getting an appointment is a nightmare. You can schedule a consultation one week ahead, but urgent needs require calling precisely at 8:30 AM to join a callback queue for a potential phone consultation that might arrive at any unpredictable moment. Working? Parenting? Other commitments? Forget them - you're expected to be entirely available and waiting. No online booking, no digital consultations, and while an email address exists, queries sent electronically vanish into a black hole of non-responsiveness. Miss that single, fleeting call? Prepare to wait hours or even until the next day to reconnect. The pharmacy service is equally frustrating. My partner and I discovered we'd been prescribed cream for a shared skin condition, but only received one prescription. When we inquired about an additional tube, we were met with bureaucratic inflexibility: 'We never prescribe for multiple people', despite clear evidence to the contrary. Their solution? Another appointment, another doctor's consultation, more time wasted. The physicians themselves are top-notch once you finally access them, but save yourself the headache - consider alternative practices or private healthcare until this clinic modernizes its approach.

Fantastic local gp with efficient and caring service

Excellent neighborhood doctor's office with a friendly team. They offer on-site blood testing, which is really convenient. Similar to other practices, they initially conduct consultations via telephone and only schedule in-person visits when medically required. This approach saves time and seems very efficient. Their collaboration with the nearby pharmacy makes the entire healthcare experience seamless and straightforward.

Terrible service for key workers at clinic

Terrible and dismissive service. Completely unaccommodating for essential workers seeking an APPOINTMENT! The front desk staff seem solely focused on creating obstacles for those requiring medical assistance, and they smugly lecture patients about phone availability, oblivious to the fact that some professions prohibit carrying phones during work hours. Their condescending attitude and lack of understanding is appalling. Congratulations, Wimbledon Medical Practise, on your abysmal customer service - truly impressive.

Terrible customer service from unhelpful english receptionists

The front desk staff, both English women, demonstrate a complete absence of professional competence, showing no sense of accountability or compassion. They consistently refuse to provide any explanation and habitually dismiss inquiries. I recognize this reflects a broader industry trend where personnel are hired without adequate qualifications, leading to a systematic decline in service standards. This deterioration seems widespread across various sectors, with workers seemingly ill-equipped for their roles. While we may feel powerless to effect meaningful change, sharing our firsthand experiences serves as a small form of personal recourse.
