Patient Experience Summary

Medical professionals at the practice are widely recognised as competent and skilled, with several patients praising their clinical expertise and compassionate approach to care. However, significant challenges persist across reception experience, appointment access, and communication. The reception experience is notably inconsistent, with some patients reporting helpful and welcoming staff whilst others describe unhelpful, dismissive, or discourteous interactions. Appointment availability remains a major concern, with patients struggling to secure in-person consultations, facing lengthy waiting lists, and encountering inflexible booking systems that rely heavily on telephone triage. Many patients report frustration with the practice's administrative processes, including poor communication about test results, delayed follow-ups, and inconsistent information about operating hours and scheduling policies.

The shift to telephone-based consultations has created particular difficulties for patients with work commitments or those requiring physical examinations. Waiting times for test results and specialist referrals are frequently cited as problematic, with patients reporting they must initiate contact rather than receiving proactive outreach from the practice. Whilst some patients have experienced responsive and efficient service, particularly from specific staff members, the overall pattern suggests organisational challenges in managing patient access and communication. Several patients have transferred to alternative practices due to these service issues, though others express appreciation for the medical care received once access is achieved.

Terrible medical service leaves patient frustrated and helpless

The service here has typically been mediocre, but yesterday was absolutely ridiculous. I arrived for my appointment at 10:30 and expected my prescription to be immediately sent to Boots. After waiting two hours, I went to the pharmacy, but no prescription was there. When I called the doctor's office, the receptionist claimed they only send prescriptions after 4 PM, which I know is false since I've had them sent directly before. I returned to Boots after 4 PM, and still no prescription had been sent. Since it's Friday, I'm now forced to wait until Monday to get my medication because the doctor clearly overlooked it. Their incompetence is astounding. What if I were experiencing severe pain and desperately needed this prescription? I'd be left suffering the entire weekend without medication. Absolutely useless. When I called back on Monday, the doctor hadn't sent the prescription and wasn't even working that day. Completely incompetent.

Worst medical service ever experienced by patient

Absolutely worthless. Attempted to schedule an appointment, with the promise of a doctor's callback - which never materialized. Spent a week repeatedly calling, only to finally connect with a physician who claimed, "We've been trying to reach you, but your phone is disconnected". This occurred after explicitly verifying contact information with the front desk. They incorrectly referenced the displayed phone number instead of the actual file number and refused to update it when asked. Logically, wouldn't someone have noticed the incorrect contact information if they had actually attempted to call? Describing the situation to the doctor was met with bewilderment. Incompetence at an astounding level.

Her professionalism and exceptional helpfulness are truly appreciated. Many thanks to her for resolving my long-standing scheduling issue.

Frustrating medical practice with poor communication

The medical practice's quality has deteriorated since the pandemic. Scheduling appointments has become incredibly challenging after they eliminated the online booking platform, with difficulties arising whether attempting to book via phone or in-person. The current system is remarkably inefficient; there should be a method to pre-schedule routine check-ups, allowing staff to focus solely on handling urgent, non-standard appointments during open phone hours. Moreover, test result inquiries are restricted to a mere two-hour window between noon and 2 PM. When I attempted to discuss my results, the receptionist merely stated they were "normal" without truly listening to my concerns. I was completely denied the opportunity to have a substantive conversation with a healthcare professional about my test findings.

Unresponsive gp practice leaves patient suffering badly

Dialed in, queued, 25th in line at 8:31am, despite lines opening at 8:30, any earlier attempt results in being told it's an emergency line with instructions to call back in half an hour (even when you're experiencing a critical medical situation with pus-leaking wounds and a dangerously high fever of 39.9). The promised doctor callback never materialized, not even a courtesy message explaining why. I remain severely ill, and it's clear I'm not considered a priority by my GP - an absolutely unacceptable situation. How can a medical practice ignore a patient's call? It's equivalent to scheduling a 10am appointment and being told at 7pm to return the next day. Draw your own conclusions. I'd assign zero stars if the system permitted. Regardless, I hope other patients have a more positive experience. I'm now heading to the Emergency Department, a situation that could have been easily resolved with a brief two-minute call and an antibiotic prescription. But apparently, it's preferable to have a patient spend 8 hours in A&E, consuming valuable medical resources. Utterly deplorable service.

Frustrating decline from once excellent medical practice

I've consistently held this medical practice in high regard over time. However, my opinion has shifted negatively since their relocation and particularly during the COVID period. They would benefit from actively seeking patient feedback to enhance their current scheduling system, as securing an appointment has become incredibly challenging, even when I'm dialing precisely at times like 08:35 and 08:32.

Terrible service and unhelpful staff avoid this place

I recently relocated to this area and initially signed up, but have now registered elsewhere due to the subpar service. It seems the staff might be overwhelmed, but the receptionist was incredibly unhelpful. When I explained I needed to resolve an administrative matter and book an appointment, the response regarding the admin issue was essentially that they don't provide updates on potentially important information. As soon as I clarified that point, she appeared eager to end the call. Upon attempting to schedule an appointment, I was informed—almost gleefully—that there's a week and a half waiting list. Nobody enjoys seeking medical attention if it can be avoided. Receptionists serve as the initial point of contact for patients, and it's crucial that they are both capable and willing to assist. Even the smallest display of empathy and genuine desire to help can make a significant difference in a patient's experience.

Terrible service and unhelpful medical staff nightmare

Absolutely no effort is made to provide any support, with their default response being an automatic rejection, completely disregarding any attempt to seek help. The front desk staff are arguably the most incompetent representatives I've ever encountered, and it's deeply troubling that such individuals are tasked with serving people in critical medical situations. The NHS should be thoroughly embarrassed by this level of unprofessional and uncaring service.

Terrible customer service at local medical practice

The reception staff, including an individual named Paula, display an incredibly dismissive attitude, openly suggesting patients seek care elsewhere if they're dissatisfied with their service. The general practitioner appears overwhelmed with patient volume and seems indifferent about retaining patients. The NHS, this specific GP practice, and their medical team urgently need to reassess their customer service approach. Furthermore, it's worth highlighting that all appointments are exclusively managed via telephone, with no option for in-person consultations with the doctor.

Poor!

Frustrating medical service with poor communication

The service is mediocre at best. I'm currently experiencing a frustrating delay, having been waiting five weeks for results that the practice should have pursued from the local hospital. Over the past week, I've made multiple phone calls, and this morning was informed I can only contact them between 12-2:00pm (a new restriction that wasn't in place last week). After explaining my lengthy wait time, the receptionist was unhelpful and abruptly ended the call. Their communication is consistently poor - patients are always left to follow up on test results, with no proactive outreach from the practice.

Excellent doctor, terrible receptionist ruins the experience

The physician was exceptionally kind and thoroughly competent. However, the front desk staff was shockingly discourteous and prone to idle chatter. I was met with a disapproving glare both when I arrived and when I departed, despite offering polite greetings. Their signage and online information are frustratingly inconsistent, with conflicting details about their actual operating hours and appointment scheduling that create unnecessary confusion for patients.
