Exceptional Care at Wingate Medical Centre

I registered with Wingate Medical Centre in Kirkby in June 2023, shortly after relocating from Kent. The general practitioners here are incredibly understanding, compassionate, and display a high level of empathy toward those they care for. For several years, I have been dealing with Chronic Health Conditions, and the team has responded to my medical requirements promptly and effectively. Dr. Natalie Edwardson stands out as an exceptional physician who swiftly addressed my gastrointestinal issues along with my persistent Iron Deficiency Anaemia. She arranged for me to undergo an Endoscopy that identified two stomach disorders, leading to a tailored treatment plan being prescribed for me. Additionally, Dr. Simon Wee, Dr. Christine Mimnagh, and Dr. Kathryn Jordan are also remarkable general practitioners. In my experience so far, this is undoubtedly the finest GP practice I’ve ever been associated with. Thank you very much!

Endless Phone Battles for Medical Appointments

Up until recently, I had no issues with undergoing surgery; however, my perspective shifted slightly following last week’s experience. For three mornings in a row, I called precisely at 8 AM, hoping to receive a callback regarding my appointment. It seemed like a straightforward task, but unfortunately, that was far from the reality. Each day the phone line was perpetually busy between 8 and 8:20 AM. When I finally managed to connect after waiting on hold for an additional ten to fifteen minutes, the receptionist informed me that there were no available appointments for that day. She suggested either trying again tomorrow or visiting A&E or a walk-in center if it was urgent; however, I am not keen on sitting in an emergency room for twelve hours just to talk to someone and then having to call back again the next day. The same frustrating pattern continued over the next two days as well with identical results each time I tried reaching out. At one point during this ordeal, I attempted using patches but faced technical difficulties when they failed on me entirely. Ultimately, due to these ongoing challenges and delays in securing proper care through traditional means, I resorted to consulting an online doctor—incurring extra costs as a result of this situation. So thank you very much Wingate for adding that unexpected expense into my budget.

Exceptional Care at Wingate Medical Centre

I am extremely satisfied with the care I receive at Wingate Medical Centre. Dr. Agnew referred me to a physiotherapist, and I must say he is an exceptional physician. Throughout our discussions, he has taken the time to clarify everything for me at each stage of my treatment. Mr. Numan has also been remarkable; he engaged in detailed conversations about my health before conducting an examination and recommending some physiotherapy sessions for me. Additionally, he provided a set of exercises to follow. Recently, I had another appointment with him where we reviewed my condition once more. After discussing an incident where I fell, Mr. Numan expressed his desire to see me again on Monday for further evaluation and guidance regarding any necessary exercises that could assist in my recovery. I can genuinely affirm that both Dr. Agnew and Mr. Numan exhibit great thoroughness in their approach to patient care and treatment plans.

Receptionist Communication Failures Cause Medication Delays

Medical professionals excel in their responsibilities, but there can be shortcomings with the reception staff. Occasionally, they provide insufficient information about the status of prescriptions, often merely stating that it’s unavailable. For instance, I visited the pharmacy where I had previously collected my medication under the impression that it had been sent there. Instead, I found myself in a frustrating situation—like chasing after something elusive—only to discover that my prescription wasn’t actually at the pharmacy. Now I'm left waiting for delivery via courier service after running out of tablets on Monday. It sometimes feels as though they do not fully grasp their duties; rather than assisting patients effectively, they seem focused on hastily clearing lines to feel accomplished themselves. It's essential for them to empathize with individuals who experience anxiety and recognize how such situations impact us emotionally instead of casually dismissing concerns by saying “it's gone.” This lack of understanding is quite frustrating for me and many others dealing with similar issues.

Medication Nightmare: Poor Service and Empty Appointments

I am currently receiving only a week's worth of medication, and the process to obtain it takes three days. This situation has forced me to endure ongoing pain for months, creating an incredibly frustrating experience. Securing an appointment is a challenge due to my sleep issues, making the entire scenario feel like a bad joke. While some doctors are decent, I have encountered several reception staff members who are extremely unhelpful and rude. Additionally, the administrative side of operations leaves much to be desired; it's chaotic at best. As a result of these frustrations, I decided to switch providers and would not suggest this place to anyone experiencing similar difficulties 😡👎. A year has passed without improvements—I'm still unable to make appointments or communicate with anyone effectively. They claim they are fully booked; however, when I visit in person, it appears completely vacant—it simply doesn’t add up! It’s surprising they manage any revenue at all in these circumstances!

Medication Delays and Repeat Prescription Problems

I have been a patient at this clinic for an extended period, but I am increasingly dissatisfied with my medication management recently. The process of having my prescriptions mailed to me worked well during the lockdown; however, it has now become incredibly frustrating due to the surgery's failure to respond to emails from Wells and their repeated reminders. This situation directly affects the delivery of my pain relief patches. Currently, I have gone over a week without receiving them and am still waiting for their arrival in the mail. My initial request was submitted on September 23rd, 2021, and I followed up again on September 29th, 2021. When I contacted the surgery for clarification, I was informed that the required medication was not included in my repeat prescription list? There has been no discussion with any doctor regarding its removal from there. The receptionist mentioned that they would forward my medication request to Wells; as I'm writing this review on October 7th, 2021, I'm still awaiting those medications' arrival while also noting that they haven’t yet been added back onto my repeat prescription as confirmed through Patient Access. Furthermore, it seemed like the receptionist attempted to shift blame onto Wells when it's clear that responsibility lies with the surgery itself. While I'm fully aware of how challenging circumstances are for staff at this time, there continue to be numerous inconsistencies—such as having essential medications removed from repeat prescriptions—that should be addressed promptly.

Loyal Patient Praises Exceptional GP Surgery Service

I have been a patient at this practice for more than two decades, starting when it was located in Fazakerley. Although I hesitated to switch due to travel concerns, I am truly grateful that I decided against changing my general practitioner. The level of service and assistance provided by the doctors and staff has consistently been exceptional. I've never experienced long wait times when scheduling appointments.
