Feedback reflects significant challenges with appointment access and telephone communication, with patients reporting prolonged waiting times to reach the practice and difficulty securing slots. Reception experience is mixed, with some patients praising courteous and helpful staff while others describe dismissive or unwelcoming interactions. Clinical care quality shows considerable variation, with several patients commending attentive and professional care, particularly in emergency situations, whilst others report inadequate clinical assessments, poor continuity of care, and insufficient engagement with patient concerns. Prescription processing delays and inconsistent service standards feature prominently across feedback.
Common frustrations include unresponsive telephone lines, lengthy waits for appointments that extend weeks ahead, and administrative barriers to accessing care. Some patients describe feeling their concerns were not properly heard during consultations, whilst others experienced excellent emergency response and follow-up support. A pattern emerges of inconsistent service quality depending on which clinician or reception staff member patients encounter, suggesting organisational challenges in maintaining uniform standards.
Positive experiences highlight the practice's ability to deliver prompt emergency care and attentive clinical support when patients do access appointments. However, the predominant concern centres on access barriers and communication difficulties that prevent patients from reaching the practice in the first instance, creating frustration particularly when health concerns require timely attention.

Emergency appointment handled promptly and professionally
Had an emergency appointment and was seen promptly. The healthcare professional was excellent with my child, showing genuine care and willingness to help. All necessary assessments were carried out thoroughly, and I received a follow-up call as promised a few days later. It was an overall excellent experience and I'm very grateful.

Flexible staff who actually listened to my concerns
I am not registered at this surgery but managed to secure an appointment there today. Before attending, I checked the online reviews and was struck by the predominantly negative feedback. I don't typically write reviews, but given how poorly this practice appears to be rated, I felt compelled to share my positive experience, as positive feedback seems far less common than complaints. I needed to be seen urgently and was offered an appointment for today, which I accepted. My appointment was scheduled for 10.20 but I encountered traffic delays. I called shortly after my appointment time and was advised to attend anyway. The clinician subsequently rang to explain they would have limited availability, offering me the choice to wait or return at 11 when there would be a gap in their schedule. I chose to return at 11, was welcomed by a courteous and helpful receptionist, and was called through for my appointment promptly. The clinician was genuinely pleasant and attentive, taking time to listen to my concerns carefully and providing thoughtful advice alongside a clear plan moving forward. I have no complaints whatsoever. Typically, arriving late means missing your appointment entirely, so I was genuinely appreciative of being accommodated. The clinician was genuinely helpful, which contrasts with my usual experience where I often feel dismissed or patronised. I am very grateful for the care I received.

Couldn't get through on the phones
0/5. I would not recommend this practice. I experienced difficulties reaching the surgery by telephone, and my encounters with the clinical staff were inconsistent. I have since transferred to a different practice where I have found the service more satisfactory and have been able to secure appointments more easily.

Phlebotomist didn't read the request properly
I recently attended an appointment for a blood test. During the procedure, only one container of blood was collected initially, which appeared to not align with what had been requested. This led to attempts to locate an alternative vein, resulting in multiple needle insertions across my arms. Unfortunately, the blood test could not be completed as intended. It seems the request documentation may not have been fully reviewed before the procedure commenced, which I feel could have prevented the need for additional attempts. I am disappointed with my experience at this surgery and am considering making a change to my healthcare provider.

Wrong medication prescribed after poor phone communication
I experienced very poor service at this practice. I requested to speak with a doctor but was directed to speak with a clinical practitioner instead. During our phone conversation, we discussed my presenting symptoms. However, I was subsequently prescribed medication that I believed was inappropriate for my condition. I attended the surgery in person to raise concerns and request an alternative prescription, as I felt the incorrect medication could have exacerbated my symptoms. When I questioned this decision, the practitioner became defensive and denied that we had discussed my symptoms during our initial phone call. Upon further discussion about the treatment approach, the practitioner acknowledged that they had not reviewed what needed to be prescribed and had simply issued a repeat of a previous prescription that had been given for a different condition entirely. I had recorded our conversation from arrival to departure, and during the discussion the practitioner's demeanor appeared to shift noticeably, becoming more cooperative after noticing my recording device. I have evidence of this exchange available if needed. I have consistently experienced poor service during my time with this practice. The only positive experience I have had was with one particular clinician. I also had a scheduled appointment that I called ahead about, as I anticipated being approximately ten minutes late due to unforeseen circumstances. I was informed that lateness would result in the appointment being cancelled, so we agreed to reschedule as a telephone consultation instead. The receptionist indicated I would receive a call around the original appointment time. No call was received. An hour after the agreed time, I called back to enquire about the telephone appointment, only to be told by a different receptionist that my appointment had not been converted to a telephone consultation and remained as a face-to-face appointment. I was then advised I would be contacted at some unspecified time. I have decided to change practices. This represents my final visit. The administrative coordination at this surgery is severely lacking. I cannot recall a recent occasion when I have contacted them without encountering difficulties.

Reception staff made mum feel genuinely welcome
Took my mum to see a physiotherapist who I think was a locum, and he was excellent. He gave my mum his full attention, was straightforward in his approach and actually addressed her concerns, which was a refreshing change from some previous healthcare encounters where she felt passed between different services without proper resolution. I cannot speak highly enough of him, and the receptionist was equally impressive—very courteous, attentive and supportive, particularly given it wasn't my mum's usual practice.

Receptionist overstepped with medical questions
Waited considerably longer than the scheduled appointment time for my daughter. The receptionist asked detailed questions about medical matters that seemed beyond the scope of their role. This continues a pattern of disappointing service experiences. The practice appears to have systemic issues that need addressing.

Long-term patient valued for smoking support
I have been a patient at this practice for over three decades, and have experienced care from various clinicians throughout that time. There was one particular healthcare professional who made a significant positive impact on my health journey, specifically by supporting me through a major lifestyle change many years ago. That intervention proved to be genuinely life-changing for me, which is why I have remained loyal to the practice. I consider my surgery to be among the best in the local area.

Reception queue moved quickly and helpfully
I was able to reach reception quite quickly despite being third in line, and the staff member at the desk was genuinely helpful in locating an available appointment slot for me. Given how busy the practice has been lately and the current circumstances, my concerns were handled thoroughly and professionally. Thank you to the reception team for their assistance!

Phone lines impossible to get through on
Disappointing Experience Like others have mentioned, contacting the practice is extremely difficult, with calls often going unanswered or not being picked up at all. I found the initial assessment to be inaccurate, as when I sought a second opinion through alternative NHS services, the findings were notably different and more serious than what was initially indicated. My partner also experienced delays with medication, as the practice took over two weeks to process a prescription request to the pharmacy, during which time there was no communication. The overall impression was one of indifference and lack of engagement with patient needs. We have since transferred to a different practice. It appears that unless a situation is genuinely urgent, the practice shows limited willingness to help. I would recommend considering other options for your healthcare.

Phone lines make booking appointments difficult
I have been a patient for many years and have experienced ongoing difficulties. The telephone lines are frequently unavailable or have extended wait times. Appointments are only accessible if you call at opening time, otherwise you cannot secure a slot, which I feel is problematic. I am planning to register with a different practice soon as I have become frustrated with the situation. I do want to acknowledge that the reception staff have been pleasant and helpful throughout.

Reception team provided helpful signposting and guidance
Outstanding guidance and support provided by both the reception staff and clinical team. While phone lines can experience wait times, this is consistent with what you'd encounter at most other medical practices, utility providers, and financial institutions.

Impossible to reach reception by phone
If you manage to reach someone at reception, they seem unwilling to help unless the situation is extremely urgent. I have been attempting to contact the practice for nearly two weeks regarding a medication concern, but have found the process incredibly frustrating. The situation is further complicated as other services cannot assist until my GP has responded first.

Nurse lacked knowledge about hormone treatment options
I have decided to discontinue my hormone-related treatment at this practice. I will manage my symptoms as best I can, as the healthcare professional I consulted was unable to provide a suitable prescription or demonstrate adequate understanding of what I was experiencing. I felt the clinical knowledge in this particular area was insufficient for my needs, so I have chosen not to return.

Poor!
Online callback request left me waiting without contact
I spent several weeks attempting to secure an appointment by phone before deciding to submit a request through the surgery's online form, which is advertised as being suitable for non-urgent matters. Despite being notified via text that a clinician would contact me within 24 hours, no call materialised. When I followed up with the surgery directly, I was informed that my request had been withdrawn because my case was not classified as urgent. This seemed contradictory given that the online service is specifically designed for non-urgent cases. It appears there is a disconnect between how the surgery's services are presented and how they are actually managed. This inconsistency raises concerns about whether patients can rely on the information provided about available services.
