Persistent phone queues and lack of empathy
Called at 8 and the line was busy, then made six more attempts before finally getting through, only to be put on hold for 20 minutes with no appointment available at the end of it. Appointments consistently run significantly behind schedule when one does manage to secure a slot, sometimes over an hour late. My family member was also told that a medication was no longer available due to cost considerations and had to purchase it privately for several months until after repeated calls, the prescription was eventually restored. Today has been the breaking point. Following a surgical procedure on Friday, I was given a letter to present to the practice, with today being Monday as the first available opportunity since the surgical facility was closed. I required additional pain management but was told it would take two working days and that I should have brought the letter on Friday. The suggestion was then made that if I hurried to deliver it in person, they might be able to assist. There was a lack of understanding, minimal support offered, and poor organisation of both time and resources. I have now attempted to call four times to confirm whether my pain relief medication has been processed. It appears the surgery does not proactively contact patients with information, yet expects patients to call for updates, which logically contributes to the constant phone congestion and extended waiting times. The system feels inefficient and the approach unhelpful, combined with what feels like inadequate standards in the care provided.

I managed to secure an appointment after being persistent, though I was seen by a practice nurse rather than my preferred choice. This wasn't quite what I was hoping for. I required documentation for my absence from work, but didn't receive guidance on how to obtain it. Having been away from work for a week while still unwell has been quite stressful, and I felt the surgery could have done more to ease this burden. Impossible to reach by phone, no appointments available
If I could rate this lower, I would. This practice has been a frustrating experience, and while I rarely require appointments, when I do, I find myself spending two days attempting to contact them, only to encounter engaged lines or continuous ringing. When I finally get through, I'm informed that no appointments are available. Additionally, my mother was prescribed a particular medication many years ago. The practice has recently made the decision to discontinue prescribing this medication due to cost considerations to the NHS. My mother finds this medication extremely difficult to discontinue, and the practice now requires her to obtain it through private prescription at her own expense. I would recommend considering alternative practices unless you are prepared for lengthy waits to access care or feel your needs are not being adequately addressed.

Phone lines took days to get through
It took me three days of attempting to reach the practice before I could speak to someone. I was then informed that I would need to phone on the day of my appointment to check availability rather than booking in advance. This seems impractical given the difficulty in getting through, as the phone lines are either constantly ringing without answer or engaged. Additionally, I was told that blood tests could only be carried out in the morning, which differs from my previous experience of having them done in the afternoon over many years. I am extremely frustrated with this situation and am now considering having the procedure done elsewhere.

Reception staff were consistently rude throughout
This has been the poorest medical practice I have attended. I remained a patient for several years despite feeling I should have raised concerns multiple times. The service has disappointed me repeatedly in ways too numerous to mention. More recent problems include misplaced test results, difficulty obtaining travel vaccinations, reluctance to provide care during pregnancy, and persistently discourteous front desk interactions from the beginning of my time there. After switching to another practice, I have been struck by how much better the experience is. I had attributed the difficulties to NHS funding constraints, but I now realise that was not the case.

I have been attempting to contact the practice for an extended period with the telephone line consistently busy. Following a scan appointment the previous week, I received correspondence requesting that I arrange an appointment to discuss the findings. However, I have been informed that the earliest available appointment is several weeks away. Got urgent appointment within hours for wound care
I would like to thank the reception team, the nurse practitioner, and the clinical staff for their assistance last week. I had recently been discharged from hospital and was experiencing complications with a post-discharge wound concern. From my initial contact, I was offered an appointment very promptly. I attended multiple follow-up appointments and received attentive and respectful care throughout. The team demonstrated genuine commitment to their work as they always do. Promised callback after three days, never came
I am extremely disappointed with the care my young infant son has received. He has been experiencing eczema for an extended period, and the treatment approach has consisted solely of various topical creams. When I expressed concerns that these were ineffective and his condition was deteriorating, I was referred for specialist assessment. However, I was informed of a substantial waiting time for hospital appointments and advised to either monitor for cancellations or contact the practice to request an earlier review. I followed this guidance and made contact with the practice, but was told the clinician was unavailable and that someone would email and call me back. After waiting several days without hearing anything, I booked another appointment. During this visit, I communicated my frustration about the lack of progress in a direct manner. I was subsequently offered another appointment with a different clinician the following day. Following this appointment, I received correspondence regarding my conduct during the previous visit. However, I felt my actions were entirely justified given my concerns for my son's wellbeing. The clinician I saw expressed serious concern about how the condition had been managed and indicated they would be raising this with the practice. I feel the care provided has been inadequate and I intend to escalate this matter further through appropriate channels, as I believe the standard of service falls significantly short of what should be expected.
