Patient feedback reveals a markedly mixed experience across appointment access, communication, and clinical care. Significant challenges persist with booking availability, where patients report difficulty securing appointments despite repeated attempts, alongside persistent phone line issues that prevent contact with the practice. Prescription processing delays and poor coordination between departments have emerged as recurring concerns, with some patients experiencing extended waits for medication refills and referrals. Reception staff professionalism varies considerably, with some patients describing unhelpful or discourteous interactions, while others praise warm and supportive service.
Conversely, clinical care receives consistent positive recognition, particularly regarding attentive listening, compassionate approaches, and professional expertise during consultations. Patients value the continuity of care when assigned to specific GPs and appreciate clear communication about treatment options. Blood draw services are frequently highlighted as efficient and comfortable, with staff demonstrating genuine courtesy and skill. The practice environment is described as welcoming by many, with supportive reception teams noted for their helpfulness during booking and medication requests.
The disparity between strong clinical interactions and systemic access challenges suggests that while individual practitioners and clinical staff deliver quality care, organisational processes around appointment scheduling, phone responsiveness, and interdepartmental coordination require significant improvement to meet patient expectations.

Feeling heard and supported by my gp
Medical practices vary in their approaches, and adapting to a new healthcare provider can require time and understanding. Having complex, ongoing health challenges, I transitioned to this practice in 2021. It has been beneficial to have a dedicated reception staff member I can communicate with during more challenging periods. What matters most to me is that when I'm in the consultation room, I feel genuinely seen, heard, and respected as an individual patient. I now have a specific GP assigned to me, and I'm incredibly thankful to be under their care. Their compassionate approach, attentive listening, practical support, and genuine concern are providing me with hope, resilience, and confidence in managing my health. Having a GP whom I can trust and who collaborates with me to make informed, mutually agreed decisions is incredibly important and meaningful to me. I appreciate the comprehensive support you have provided me.

Not enough servers for the rush
I might have been a bit harsh in my previous critique - perhaps they simply need to increase their workforce and reduce the customer load.

Helpful staff guides elderly patient online
Admin Staff's Compassionate Care I was deeply touched observing a member of Woodhouse Hill Surgery's administrative team providing empathetic assistance to an older patient. Seniors are often overlooked, but this compassionate young woman displayed remarkable patience and understanding while guiding the gentleman through the process of online medication ordering via the surgery's website. She went above and beyond by offering reassurance that support would always be available should he encounter difficulties in the future. I felt strongly motivated to share this experience and recognize her exceptional service. I believe her name is Anam, though I apologize if naming is inappropriate or if I've misspelled it. I would hate for such a beautiful moment of kindness to pass without acknowledgment. The interaction was profoundly moving, and I'm certain the gentleman was equally appreciative of her gentle and helpful approach. Continue delivering such outstanding care!

Caring doctors and friendly staff at woodhouse
I've been a patient at Woodhouse Hill Surgery my entire life, and it truly is an exceptional medical practice. The overall atmosphere is delightful and welcoming from the moment you arrive. The reception team is incredibly supportive and goes above and beyond to assist patients. Dr. Ahmed is particularly outstanding, always addressing medical concerns with thoroughness and compassion, ensuring patients feel at ease and never rushed during consultations.

Waste of time and money
Completely ineffective service that constantly redirects patients to the emergency department. Stop sending me emails claiming you'll provide assistance when you have no intention of actually helping. Your compensation is entirely unwarranted given the lack of meaningful support.

Dangerous doctors ignored my brain shadow
Woodhouse hill surgery is a practice no patient should rely on. I've been desperately seeking help for 2 years and couldn't secure a single appointment accommodating my requirements. The staff are consistently discourteous on the phone, claiming they'll take notes but never following through. Doctors are rarely available when urgently needed, and they've significantly deteriorated my medical condition. They've left me with an undiagnosed illness, refusing to acknowledge my health concerns even after receiving urgent referral notes from the 111 department. They seemingly fabricated appointments to remove me from their registration after I exposed their appointment manipulation - evidence I now have documented with my solicitor. I'm pursuing legal action against Woodhouse hill surgery for medical negligence, providing false information, and misleading patients about appointment availability. Despite having a brain shadow and a life-threatening stomach condition requiring 6-monthly monitoring, I'm now 2 years overdue for essential checks. My health has dramatically declined due to their complete lack of care. I strongly advise any registered patients to find alternative healthcare providers. These are potentially the worst doctors imaginable, who will ultimately compromise your medical well-being. Do not trust them under any circumstances.

Rude staff and broken systems everywhere
I absolutely cannot endorse this medical practice at all. They should be shut down entirely. Booking an appointment is an endless ordeal. Their online scheduling system is completely fraudulent, as they consistently ignore all communication. I've personally observed staff deliberately taking phones off the hook when calls come in. Several reception staff display extremely unprofessional attitudes. During one visit, we were informed that their 'systems were down' and told to either wait indefinitely or seek alternative care at a walk-in centre. This was particularly challenging as I was accompanied by a 4-year-old and had already waited 40 minutes. The senior receptionist's response was shockingly unhelpful, essentially suggesting I either sit and wait or find another facility. The double standard is remarkable - had I arrived 5 minutes late, my appointment would have been cancelled without hesitation. Fortunately, the doctor intervened and saw us, which was the sole positive aspect of the experience. If I could transfer to another surgery, I absolutely would. They've done nothing more than apply a superficial coat of paint, which represents the extent of their improvements. This practice is fundamentally unacceptable.

Awful wait while partner suffered in pain
Utterly appalling healthcare experience My partner has been suffering immensely for weeks, repeatedly attempting to secure a GP appointment. Scheduling has been chaotic, with appointments arbitrarily modified or outright cancelled without valid explanation. Driven by unbearable pain, my partner was compelled to contact 111, who explicitly stated she required immediate GP consultation and that all relevant information would be documented in System One. Despite this, the GP still insisted on delaying her appointment until May 19th!!! Demonstrably indifferent to patient welfare, the reception staff exhibit rudeness, and the doctors fundamentally lack the compassionate professionalism essential in healthcare. Ultimately, we transferred to a different practice, where she was promptly sent to A&E for x-rays, received immediate medication, and was also referred to physiotherapy. I cannot emphasize enough how strongly I advise against this medical practice. The standard of care is abysmal.

Medication mix-ups left me in constant pain
Absolutely terrible service with continuous errors in my prescription, always shifting blame to the pharmacy. Communication is impossible - phone lines are perpetually blocked and medical staff never return calls. I've been suffering severe hip pain for over a month, barely able to move, with a promised consultation about pain management that was never fulfilled. For your own well-being, avoid this healthcare provider at all costs.

Impossible to reach my local surgery
I've been attempting to contact the medical practice since 8:30 this morning, and after making 20 separate phone calls, I'm still encountering a constantly busy line. It's now 1 pm, and I still haven't managed to get through. IS ANYONE ACTUALLY WORKING THERE??? I absolutely refuse to believe that every single person in town is trying to call this office right now!!!!

Great new doctor at woodhouse hill surgery
Dr. Anarm at Woodhouse Hill surgery is a remarkable addition to the medical team. Her comprehensive medical knowledge and attentive approach set her apart. She takes the time to carefully listen to patients' concerns, refusing to rush into prescribing medication until she has thoroughly investigated and confidently diagnosed the underlying condition. If necessary, she will pursue further diagnostic procedures to ensure accurate treatment. Dr. Anarm's dedication and professional expertise represent a significant positive change for the practice, and there is great optimism that she will help transform the quality of care at Woodhouse Hill surgery.

Midnight call left me totally confused
Where on earth are these physicians even located??? I've been attempting to schedule an appointment for three consecutive days with zero success. I'm desperately seeking a diagnosis for my medical issue. I followed protocol by submitting photos to the 111 department, only to receive a call at 1:30 in the morning, disrupting my sleep, informing me I need to see a doctor in the morning. When I contacted the surgery this morning, they claimed complete ignorance of the previous communication. How is such abysmal medical service permissible for citizens who have diligently paid their national insurance contributions? It's imperative that doctors return to their surgeries immediately, or we risk patients suffering serious consequences from this unacceptable neglect.
