Reception staff dismissed our housing situation
We have repeatedly received letters requesting that we register with a different practice due to our address. However, our current registered address is a care facility address, as we are experiencing housing difficulties. We have communicated this situation to the practice on multiple occasions. During a recent visit, we had an interaction with a member of the reception staff that left us feeling upset. The staff member expressed disbelief about our circumstances and made comments that we found hurtful and dismissive. We felt our situation was not taken seriously or handled with appropriate sensitivity.

Appointment booked without arranging necessary support
I had a very negative experience at this surgery. A pregnant patient was left without proper antenatal care arrangements. After waiting two weeks for a midwifery appointment, she attended on the scheduled date and time, only to be turned away and told to return in two weeks because no interpreter had been arranged, despite this need being known in advance. The surgery also failed to book her into the hospital for delivery or arrange her scan appointment. The patient was understandably distressed by this experience. When attempting to lodge a formal complaint, I was informed that no manager was currently available as the practice was in the process of recruiting one. I found this response inadequate given the circumstances. I subsequently contacted the midwifery team at the hospital directly, and the patient has now been properly registered and has her scan scheduled. The difference in service between the two organisations was stark. I would not recommend this surgery and feel it falls significantly short of acceptable standards.

Unfortunately on this occasion your friends appointment was booked by the midwives themselves, The midwife that was on that day should of booked an interpreter when booking her next appointment. Frustrating appointment system makes booking nearly impossible
The telephone appointment booking system is frustrating. I've recently relocated to the area and attempted to schedule an appointment for my son. When calling early in the morning, I was advised to ring back in the afternoon because morning slots were already fully booked, despite calling at the earliest opportunity. When I questioned why afternoon appointments couldn't be booked during morning hours, I was told that afternoon booking lines only open in the afternoon. This seems like an inefficient arrangement. Calling in the afternoon results in being told that all appointments for that day are taken. It took a month of attempting to secure an appointment, and when I visited the practice in person, I discovered they close at midday for lunch. The current appointment system appears to need significant revision. I would rate this experience extremely poorly if given the option.

6 years agoDear Sir/Madam, Apologies for the late reply. We a very sorry to hear you have had a frustrating experience. We operate an on the day booking system for patients who need to be seen on the day / Urgent. We open our phone lines at 8:30am daily, as you can imagine we have a large volume of calls at that time and a maximum of 4 staff manning the phone lines. We have a system to make it fair to all patients where we can book so many pre bookable appointments with some blocked for on the day appointments which release on that day at 7:30am and then some at 1:30pm. We do pre book 1 week in advance but are sometimes able to book even for the next day / day after and so on. As a practice we have 8300+ patients and a great demand for on the day appointments which we simply cant accommodate to everyone. We will however try our best in fitting extra/urgent appointments in if we see fit to do so. If we cant we can always signpost and book into other services: Walk in centres, pharmacies and our Local Hubs. We do however appreciate your feedback and are always welcoming ideas for change from our patients. We hope this information helps you. Kind regards WMP

Friendly staff who actually listen to you
I'm puzzled by the one-star rating. I've been a patient at this practice for over a decade. The team members are approachable and considerate. They treat patients with respect and without any sense of superiority.

Long phone queues and dropped calls frustrate
This medical practice has been a disappointing experience. The telephone system requires extended waiting periods before anyone responds, and the calls frequently disconnect before reaching anyone.

6 years agoDear Sir/Madam, Sorry to hear your frustrating experience, Looking at our statistics our average call on hold is around 1minute and 38 seconds. With a little longer during Peak times when the lines first open. As a practice of 8300+ Patients we receive a very large volume of calls each day we hope you can understand this, however we don't quite understand how we as a surgery as you say are by far the worst due to not been able to connect to us via telephone. :( If you have any concerns please don't hesitate to come into surgery where our friendly team / Practice Manager can help you with your concerns. Couldn't get urgent appointment when needed
If you're considering switching to this practice, I would advise against it. My family member experienced a health concern at school that required urgent attention, yet the practice was unable to accommodate an appointment. I have also been attempting to secure an appointment for myself without success. I found this experience very disappointing.

If u need advice and cant get in with your GP you can call NHS 111 where they can book you into a local care direct clinic. We hope this information helps you. Kind regards WMP
