I had to take time off work and pull my kids out of school early for a travel vaccination, only to have the appointment suddenly cancelled. The reception staff member showed zero empathy, displaying a dismissive attitude and essentially telling me to simply reschedule without any apology. During our phone conversation, she seemed impatient and eager to end the call as quickly as possible. This isn't an isolated incident of poor service. Based on other reviews, it appears this particular receptionist consistently lacks proper customer service skills. The overall experience was truly disappointing and unprofessional.

I am utterly frustrated by the consistently subpar treatment from the front desk personnel. The reception team at this medical facility display shockingly discourteous behavior and deserve a thorough investigation into their interactions with patients. Repeatedly, I've initiated calls at 8 am, endured lengthy wait times, only to have my connection abruptly terminated. During today's interaction, after finally connecting, I was curtly informed that no appointments were available, delivered with an unfeeling and dismissive attitude, devoid of any apology or basic human decency. While I recognize that securing same-day appointments isn't always feasible and may be outside their direct control, the manner in which staff engage with patients is entirely within their power. In a healthcare environment, demonstrating even minimal compassion and maintaining professional communication should be standard, especially when interacting with individuals experiencing pain or emotional distress. Such unprofessional conduct is completely unacceptable and demands immediate and decisive intervention.

Terrible service and disrespectful staff at medical practice

This GP surgery is absolutely terrible, securing an appointment feels nearly impossible, and the receptionists behave like aggressive gatekeepers. Their phone manner is consistently hostile and confrontational, with a 10/10 record of being unhelpful and dismissive. They consistently refuse to listen or assist with any queries. Every single receptionist operates with the same dismissive attitude, and I strongly suspect racial discrimination, particularly towards me as an Asian patient. They provide zero support for referrals, block any attempts to ask questions about repeat prescriptions, and essentially act like complete bullies who are intent on preventing patients from receiving basic healthcare services.

Scheduling here is a complete nightmare. The only way to secure an appointment is by calling precisely at 8am, which is impossible for someone my age. By the time I can make a call at 9am, every single slot has already been snatched up. This booking process is utterly ineffective and shows zero consideration for patients with limited mobility or alternative morning commitments.

Compassionate phlebotomist conquers needle anxiety with ease

I'm penning this review because of my intense needle phobia, and today I had a blood test with Debra Kelly. I was quite anxious before the appointment and nervous in the waiting room, but Deb quickly called me in. I shared my fear of needles, and she was absolutely fantastic. She sat me down, thoroughly explained the procedure, and engaged me in conversation. Before I knew it, she had drawn my blood, and it was all over. I cannot express enough gratitude to Debra for helping me stay calm and relaxed throughout the process. I told her I would write this review and hope she sees it. I'm truly let down by their lack of communication and professionalism. They failed to contact me about my scheduled appointment and then tried to blame me for missing it. While there are some excellent physicians like Dr. Thompson, Dr. Kemp, and Dr. Bhatti (previously Dr. Simon and Dr. Wilkinson), the front desk and support staff consistently undermine the quality of this medical practice. On one occasion, I was left waiting on hold for an entire hour, only to be disconnected, and when I called back, all available appointment slots had already been taken.

****STEER CLEAR**** Mental health concerns are dismissed without a second thought. Completely ineffective. Scheduling an appointment is impossible. Moreover, when they finally see you, they claim nothing is wrong, yet you end up requiring urgent spinal surgery the very next day after their dismissive assessment. The most effective strategy is to encourage you and your family members to remove yourselves from their patient roster, potentially forcing them to face financial consequences. Perhaps then they might actually start to pay attention.

The front desk staff interact with patients as if they fear catching an illness through the phone, even when the call isn't about a medical condition. While government NHS funding can be criticized, these employees voluntarily accepted their job, salary, and work conditions. In a customer-service role, they should maintain a more compassionate and respectful approach, following the golden rule of treating others as they would want to be treated. On a positive note, the general practitioners are exceptional, providing thorough consultations without making patients feel hurried. I won't criticize the 2-3 week appointment waiting times, as this is a systemic issue caused by government policies, not a direct fault of Woodlands Medical Practice. The inadequate compensation for healthcare professionals is driving talented practitioners towards private sector opportunities.
