Patient Experience Summary

Feedback reveals a practice with a stark divide between clinical and administrative experiences. Medical professionals are consistently described as competent, empathetic, and supportive, with patients appreciating attentive listening and thorough consultations. However, this positive assessment is heavily overshadowed by severe access challenges. Appointment booking presents the most significant barrier, with patients reporting difficulty reaching the practice by phone, perpetually busy lines, and a same-day appointment system that forces high call volumes at 8am. Reception experience frustration is widespread, with complaints about staff indifference, poor communication, and lengthy waiting times both on the telephone and in person. Long delays between booking and consultation, cancelled appointments without notification, and unresponsive telephone systems are recurring themes. Several patients report being unable to access care entirely, with some experiencing health deterioration as a result. While some long-term patients acknowledge the practice's efforts and appreciate the medical care once accessed, the overwhelming pattern across reviews indicates that appointment availability and booking experience remain critical barriers to service delivery.

Beyond access issues, feedback highlights concerns about continuity of care, with patients noting frequent physician rotation and inconsistent approaches to treatment. Communication gaps extend to administrative processes, including prescription handling, medical records requests, and vaccine availability. A minority of reviews acknowledge the practice's challenges are not unique and express appreciation for NHS services despite limitations, but the majority emphasise that current systems are inadequate and require significant improvement to meet patient needs.

Terrible flu vaccine experience with unprofessional staff

I had scheduled a nasal flu vaccine appointment for my daughter weeks in advance, and we received a reminder text which seemed fine. However, when she arrived at the centre, she was informed they had no flu vaccine available, what little they did have was expired, and the Nurse hadn't even shown up. Upon calling to understand why this occurred, I was merely told "all I can do is apologise" - which is completely unacceptable. This is an absolute disgrace. How can you call yourself a medical practice when you're unclear about your vaccine inventory or expiration dates? Such incompetence completely undermines any confidence in both the practice and its staff. I'm thoroughly enraged by this treatment. When I inquired if more vaccines had been ordered, I was told they wouldn't arrive until the new year - another ridiculous response. It makes me question the entire purpose of such medical practices. Getting an appointment is already incredibly difficult, and when you finally secure one, they lack the personnel to even administer basic medical services. What an utter embarrassment of a healthcare provider. The staff's performance is so poor that I'm genuinely speechless. This practice desperately requires thorough investigation and significant improvement. Visited December 2022

Absolutely dreadful surgical experience. Completely incompetent and senseless team. They never answer phone calls, which immediately divert to voicemail. Extremely unaccommodating and frustrating.

This has got to be the most terrible medical procedure I've experienced, with absolutely no efficiency in their patient flow and a consistent pattern of prescription errors, truly an awful surgical practice.

Compassionate care when it matters most

I'm reflecting on my elderly father's medical care. Despite potential difficulties, I've found their service truly exceptional. The reception staff are courteous and genuinely attentive, carefully listening to any worries and promptly connecting me with a doctor. Even during later hours, the GP contacted me swiftly, within just 10 minutes of my call. My dad consistently receives same-day appointments whenever he reaches out. I am incredibly grateful for their consistent commitment to accommodating and caring for my father.

Frustrating communication and unclear medical guidance

Typically reliable if you can successfully schedule a consultation, but currently dissatisfied since I was verbally assured my child's test results were normal, only to receive a prescription letter a week later, causing confusion and frustration 😩

Caring doctors make this estate medical practice great

Yes, the phone wait can be lengthy, but it's a large practice where I've never encountered problems with physicians or personnel. Everyone has been incredibly supportive. I'm genuinely upset that Dr. Manchester has departed, as he was more like a companion who assisted me with my weight loss journey and helped secure funding for my tummy tuck. I'm uncertain about who will replace him, but he will be deeply missed xx

Insensitive medical practice fails autism patient care

I'm utterly exhausted from repeatedly explaining why now isn't suitable for vaccinating our autistic child. We already face challenges securing appointments, yet you persistently push to administer shots that will only traumatize her, causing her to associate medical facilities with distressing experiences during future essential assessments and support visits. Despite previous assurances that our concerns were documented, you've once again left an inappropriate voicemail. You claim this is standard "practice policy", but I'm compelled to question whether financial incentives are driving this approach, potentially compromising your fundamental responsibility to provide compassionate patient care. I would have preferred to communicate this directly via email or phone, but your absurdly long wait times and lack of contact email make meaningful dialogue impossible.

Absolutely terrible customer support! It took me 28 phone calls across two days just to reach someone, and then I was stuck waiting on hold for a staggering 50 minutes !!!!! 50 minutes wasted waiting !!!!! The management clearly doesn't understand that not all customers use social media and they desperately need to improve their communication and responsiveness

Caring professionals shine despite pandemic phone challenges

I've consistently received excellent care and have been thoroughly satisfied with the medical professionals and personnel. The only reason I'm not giving a perfect 5-star rating is the current challenge of reaching someone by phone, though I fully understand this is likely due to pandemic-related constraints. Kudos to the entire team for maintaining such high-quality service during these challenging times, and my sincere appreciation for their continued dedication.

Horrible customer service wastes hours of my time

Every time I need to schedule an appointment, I'm forced to spend at least an hour tied up on the telephone. Today, after 1 hour and 10 minutes of waiting, I finally reached someone, only to be placed on hold or in a queue, and then unceremoniously disconnected after another 15 minutes. I absolutely cannot endorse this unacceptable approach and will be seeking alternatives immediately, as I cannot risk my 2-year-old being denied the critical care she requires due to their incompetent appointment system. This experience is profoundly, utterly disappointing!!!!!

Woodside medical centre saved my child's health

On this particular day, I was thoroughly satisfied with the medical attention my 3-year-old received. After multiple attempts to contact the surgery around 8am, I finally reached a helpful receptionist who listened attentively to my child's symptoms. She promptly suggested an immediate visit, which I managed within 10 minutes. Dr. Brady, an experienced physician, examined my child thoroughly and prescribed medication. Within just 48 hours, I've observed a remarkable improvement - my child is now eating normally, engaging with us, and has regained their usual energetic demeanor. The doctors at this medical center are exceptional, truly the best in the area. When I previously moved away, changing GP practices was disappointing, but returning to Woodside Medical Centre felt like coming home. The reception staff were courteous and supportive, a stark contrast to their previous attitude which had been dismissive and unhelpful. I'm genuinely impressed by the positive transformation and would highly recommend their services. Woodside Medical Centre continues to deliver outstanding patient care.

Worst medical centre ever avoid at all costs

If I could award negative ratings, I absolutely would! This medical centre is the absolute worst. For more than a week, I've been attempting to secure an appointment, but to no avail. I desperately require a sick note, yet their only response is "try calling back tomorrow at 8 am". When you actually ring at 8 o'clock, they don't even answer the phone. Your service is completely unacceptable and requires significant improvement. I'm definitely going to find another general practitioner who can actually provide medical care when I need it!

Dangerous healthcare with zero customer support

If I could rate this lower than zero, I would. This was an incredible location during my childhood. However, recent issues have been so severe that I've ended up hospitalized after repeatedly calling without receiving any response. Today, I was experiencing intense chest and lung discomfort from 8am until 11:45, and when I finally got through, they instructed me to call at 8am - which I had already done. I absolutely would not entrust my life to these people. Anyone considering coming here, I strongly advise finding an alternative facility that actually demonstrates genuine concern for patients.
