Nobody picks up the telephone! Even though I was first in the queue, after just a minute of waiting I was informed that nobody could answer my call and was asked to hang up and try later. This situation has continued for well over an hour! Completely unacceptable.

The phone lines do not become available until after 08:00, despite the surgery opening at 08:00 for walk-in patients. The appointment system operates on a first-come, first-served basis, with walk-in patients being seen before those who have booked by telephone. Standard appointment slots are approximately 10 minutes, though the surgery typically reaches full capacity by 08:10. The surgery uses a text message feedback system asking patients about their likelihood to recommend the practice, but does not proactively inform patients of extended wait times. Waiting periods vary considerably, ranging from immediate consultations to over 45 minutes, often without advance notice. Overall, this surgery would not be recommended based on patient feedback and personal experience. A recent call to book appointments resulted in a frustrating experience. When explaining the reasons for the appointment request, the call handler responded in a manner that felt unnecessarily defensive and unhelpful. During the conversation, it was stated that the GP would not issue prescriptions on the day, which contradicts standard practice and the duty of care expected from general practitioners. The call handler's approach was perceived as unprofessional and dismissive, making the interaction feel unnecessarily difficult and unwelcoming.

Chronic appointment delays with no updates from reception

I have consistently spoken positively about this surgery in the past, however the appointment waiting times have recently become deeply concerning. Appointments consistently run significantly behind schedule, and my last three visits experienced delays of approximately one hour, thirty-five minutes, and over an hour respectively. While I recognise that unforeseen medical situations can occur, this appears to be a regular pattern rather than an isolated occurrence. Despite offering feedback whenever the opportunity arises, there seems to be no improvement. Additionally, reception staff provide no updates to patients during extended waits. If I were to arrive this late for my own appointment, I would likely not be seen—therefore it seems inconsistent that patients are expected to wait without any communication or explanation. This standard of service is disappointing and warrants urgent review. Patients should receive better information and more reasonable waiting times. Furthermore, I attempted to use the feedback and complaints process via the website and discovered it is only accessible during a narrow time window in the morning. After waiting until the specified time to access it, I found the form was not functioning. This was extremely frustrating.

Reception staff could improve their manner

The clinical staff are excellent, however the reception team can come across as dismissive, patronising and lacking in enthusiasm. Being directed to search for information independently rather than receiving assistance isn't the standard of service you'd anticipate from a medical practice, and the appointment delays are frustrating, with waits of around 45 minutes beyond the scheduled time occurring regularly. Overall, this has been disappointing.

I have been meaning to leave this feedback for some time now. I have had a couple of telephone consultations with a member of the medical team who was lovely, very polite and knowledgeable. I did not feel rushed during our conversations and felt that my concerns were taken seriously. Based on this experience with the practice, I have no complaints and would recommend them.

I have been a patient at this surgery for three decades. Throughout my time here, I've witnessed various changes in the medical team, but the current practitioners and front desk personnel are remarkably supportive and attentive. One of the clinicians recommended a specific injectable treatment to help manage my elevated cholesterol levels and also suggested a daily oral medication. Following this approach, my cholesterol readings have shown significant improvement. This practitioner demonstrates a warm and approachable manner that helps patients feel comfortable and reassured during consultations.

Doctors didn't listen to my concerns

I feel that my concerns are not adequately heard during appointments, and I struggle to obtain the information I request. The explanations provided for my symptoms do not seem to align with what I am experiencing, and I have noticed that lifestyle factors are frequently attributed as causes. I have felt that the approach taken has not been sensitive to my concerns about how these factors are discussed. I was given one explanation for my symptoms during a telephone consultation, but this was not revisited at my next appointment. More recently, I was told that stress is the primary factor affecting my health. I found this frustrating, as I felt the stress was actually stemming from my interactions with the practice itself. My experience deteriorated after a particular clinician was no longer at the surgery. I have since decided to register elsewhere.
