Prescription stopped without any warning given

I was diagnosed with a long-term condition several years ago which has been progressively worsening. A medication I have been taking regularly for the same period was suddenly rejected from my repeat prescription without any advance notice or explanation. I was then advised to purchase the medicine privately from a pharmacy instead. This decision felt dismissive of my ongoing health needs and the lack of prior communication was particularly frustrating. I felt let down by how this situation was handled.

Polite and professional service across the board

If I could leave a 6 star review for this service I would. Although I have been a patient here for over two decades, I have not had to use it frequently because of my fortunate, good health. On my recent visits I have experienced nothing but courteous, professional service from the clinical staff, nursing team and reception staff alike. I hope this standard of care continues.

Reception staff were dismissive and rude

If I could give zero stars I would. I understand the NHS faces staffing challenges, but I found the manner of the staff to be quite discourteous. This will be my last visit to this practice, as I feel the team should remember they are providing a service to patients. In any other business setting, this standard of interaction would be unacceptable and damaging to their reputation. I was disappointed by what I perceived as a lack of professionalism.

I cannot recommend this surgery due to the conduct of the reception and administrative team. I only reach out to the clinical staff when truly necessary, but on each occasion, certain team members have answered the phone in a manner that felt dismissive. They frequently interrupt conversations and appear keen to conclude calls promptly. During a recent call, I was unable to finish my point before being cut off with a brief farewell and the line going dead. This lack of courtesy is concerning. The practice would benefit from investing in staff development or recruiting individuals who demonstrate genuine enthusiasm for supporting patients, rather than those who appear disengaged from their role. Furthermore, I experienced confusion regarding the handling of referrals. While I recognise that the workplace can be demanding, this does not justify responding to patients seeking assistance with such harshness. I am aware that others have raised similar concerns about this matter. On a more encouraging note, the majority of the clinical practitioners at this practice are highly competent, and I have no issues with the quality of their care.

Hard to get same day appointments here

It is quite challenging to obtain appointments on the same day. The practice requests that patients call from 8am onwards, however by the time a connection is made, there are typically no slots remaining available. The practice may benefit from reviewing their appointment allocation system to better meet patient demand.

I have found it confusing regarding the actual opening times for phone lines. Whenever I call after 7am, I receive a message indicating the lines are closed, yet online information suggests they should be open. There also appears to be conflicting information about updated opening times that were supposedly implemented recently.

Phone call didn't lead to proper follow-up care

I have been experiencing pain for the past week related to a nerve issue affecting my chest and back. I spent six hours at the hospital yesterday. The doctor called me today to discuss pain management options and blood pressure medication. However, I felt that the pain relief offered was insufficient, particularly given that the hospital had recommended I obtain pain relief through my GP. This morning, I needed assistance from my neighbour to get up off the floor, and I expressed my frustration to the doctor about not receiving adequate pain relief. During that call this morning, I mentioned that I no longer wanted to continue in this situation. The call ended at around 10 o'clock, and several hours have passed without any follow-up contact to check on my wellbeing. The only reason I am still here is because a friend has been keeping me company and providing support.
