Appointment felt rushed and concerns weren't properly investigated
I attended an appointment regarding persistent, severe headaches accompanied by tenderness in the head area, along with ongoing nausea and concerns about a possible hormonal imbalance. Unfortunately, I felt that my concerns were not thoroughly explored. The appointment began approximately 22 minutes behind schedule, despite appearing to have no prior patient, and lasted around 7 minutes. During the consultation, much of the information discussed seemed to be sourced from online searches, and I was subsequently provided with a link to neck exercises without any physical examination or deeper investigation into my symptoms. Following the appointment, I received a message requesting that I complete a pregnancy test. I did so and received a negative result. After this, I was informed that next steps would be challenging and was asked if I would be interested in antidepressant medication. As an 18-year-old seeking assistance for ongoing physical symptoms, I found it surprising and disappointing that antidepressants were proposed so readily, particularly as there had been no conversation about my mental wellbeing and I had not raised any concerns relating to mood or depression. I left feeling unheard rather than reassured, and without a clear pathway to address the original symptoms I had attended to discuss. I recognise the demands placed on NHS staff, but this experience left me feeling that my concerns were not fully listened to or supported.

Waiting periods of around ten weeks for routine appointments are problematic. The process for requesting expedited appointments appears ineffective, with requests being returned to standard queues multiple times despite symptom changes. Reception staff have limited ability to assist with appointment issues, and the online form submission appears to be the only available booking method. Expecting patients to wait extended periods without support during this time is concerning. Previous feedback suggests the practice recommends visiting reception for assistance, though this resulted in being asked to complete additional forms. There also appears to be a considerable delay before appointment requests receive clinical review.

The digital platform functions effectively, and urgent appointments requiring same-day or next-day availability have been provided promptly. However, routine appointments have involved longer waiting periods spanning several weeks, which is why I have given four stars rather than five. The front desk staff demonstrate helpfulness, as does the pharmacy team. In my view, the practice manages to schedule appointments in a timely manner and handles matters appropriately.

Online booking system closes too early
I'm frustrated that the online appointment booking system isn't available outside of standard operating hours. Since online consultations can be conducted remotely, I don't see why this service couldn't be booked in the evening, especially given that the practice closes at 18:00. It seems illogical that I'm unable to schedule a virtual appointment with a healthcare professional through the online system when the physical location is closed. Having to visit the practice in person feels unnecessary when remote appointments should be possible.
