Appointment booking system needs serious improvement

I find the appointment booking process here to be extremely problematic. I'm seriously considering switching to a different GP practice as soon as I'm able to. The staff have been courteous, so I can't fault them personally — but the appointment system itself is deeply frustrating. The online booking requires completing an extensive form, after which you're told someone will contact you within a few days. What's particularly irritating is that the form can only be accessed during standard business hours on weekdays. Given that appointments aren't confirmed immediately anyway, this restriction seems entirely unnecessary and counterintuitive. Additionally, if you happen to miss the callback for any reason, there's no follow-up — the process simply stops. On one occasion, I had to complete that lengthy form once more as there was no alternative, and several days later I received a text confirming an appointment for a predetermined date and time. I wasn't consulted about whether this slot actually worked for my schedule. It seems illogical to assign appointments without first checking availability with the patient. The whole system feels unnecessarily complicated. My previous GP offered a far superior experience — I could access the online portal at any time that suited me, answer a brief set of questions, and then view all available appointment slots to select one that fitted my needs. In comparison, this practice feels like an unnecessarily cumbersome process just to arrange a basic appointment.
