Appointment delays made accessing care nearly impossible

For a small surgery, the appointment system has been problematic since Covid. When I recently called wanting to be seen, I was asked to describe my symptoms, and was told someone would contact me back. The earliest callback offered was ten days away, with the actual appointment potentially three to four weeks later. I also called regarding my young daughter and was advised to attend hospital if I felt it was urgent. This approach has been frustrating. The service appears to have deteriorated significantly since Covid, and I feel same-day appointments should be available. Following this, the situation has continued to decline. My young daughter was given an incorrect medication for a urinary tract infection, though I was notified of this error. The surgery feels disorganised, with appointment availability remaining difficult and reception staff appearing to make clinical judgments about appointment eligibility. I called over a month ago with a severe sore throat, but was told an appointment could not be provided for this issue. Within thirty-six hours, I attended an accident and emergency department experiencing breathing difficulties. I subsequently spent five nights in hospital due to a serious complication from my throat condition, with significant inflammation. This hospital admission could potentially have been avoided with earlier intervention. I feel the surgery's service is inadequate.
