Betrayed by my gp after years of loyalty

I've been registered with this practice for two decades without issues, but after they dismissed my husband's back problem for a year, ultimately revealing terminal cancer, my patience has worn thin. His diagnosis came just 6 weeks before lockdown, and during the pandemic, it was absolutely devastating. I felt completely isolated and unsupported. My husband nearly died from chemotherapy complications, and when I broke down under the stress, they prescribed antidepressants. However, after two prescriptions, I couldn't even get a repeat because I couldn't reach anyone. I had to arrange my own counselling through the hospital since the surgery was completely unresponsive. I originally booked appointments online, but their system has changed, rendering my login details useless. How can patients access help if they can't even contact the practice? As the largest surgery in Bexley, they should provide much better patient support. The pandemic is no excuse for being unreachable. Today, I finally got a face-to-face appointment for a blood pressure check before an HRT prescription. A rolling sign displayed 148 missed appointments - perhaps if patients could actually cancel, these slots might be utilized! I'm puzzled why they aren't operating normally when everyone else has returned to work and adapted to COVID. Today, I saw a wonderful Indian doctor who was absolutely fantastic. She was a breath of fresh air, genuinely listening and making me feel significantly better. Why can't we return to the practice's previous standard of caring doctors and staff? Thank you to her, and I'm hopeful the practice can restore its former quality of care.
