Caught between reception and prescription with no answers

I have experienced ongoing difficulties with my medication management due to long-term pain conditions. When I requested medication, I was informed that a review would be necessary before it could be provided. Following the review appointment, I was advised that I would need to be assessed by a specialist pain team. After making multiple attempts to arrange an appointment with the hospital service, I eventually secured a booking. During this waiting period, my regular pain relief medication has not been issued. When I sought clarification about this, I was told that a clinical review was required, despite having already undergone one previously that had resulted in the specialist referral. I expressed concern about running out of medication, but found myself being directed back and forth between reception and dispensary staff without reaching a resolution. While the staff were courteous, they were unable to help as the matter required clinical authorisation. This is not an isolated incident, and I am aware that other long-term patients have experienced similar issues. The process feels repetitive and frustrating, with the same obstacles arising repeatedly. I recognise that the NHS is under considerable pressure, though this does not resolve the situation I am facing. I am experiencing significant distress as a result of the medication gap, which has prompted me to share this detailed account of my experience.
