Deaf Patient Faced Dismissive and Unhelpful Staff

On two separate occasions within the past three weeks, during medical visits, I encountered deeply problematic communication barriers. During both encounters, I respectfully asked staff members to lower their masks so I could lipread and understand their facial expressions, as I am profoundly deaf. The first encounter involved an individual who completely disregarded my repeated requests, ignoring me despite asking three separate times. In the subsequent visit, the receptionist was not only unhelpful but actively hostile, flatly refusing my reasonable accommodation. This treatment represents clear discrimination and a fundamental violation of my human rights. Such unprofessional conduct from healthcare staff who seemingly neither comprehend nor demonstrate concern for established accessibility guidelines is absolutely unacceptable.
