Deaf patient struggles with communication barriers

Medical care is generally good, but there's a significant lack of accommodation for deaf patients. Telephone consultations are particularly challenging, as lip-reading is impossible when you can't see the doctor's face. Wouldn't it be more accessible to use video platforms like WhatsApp, Teams, or Facetime? The reception area also presents difficulties for deaf patients. If you don't maintain constant vigilance on the TV screen, you risk missing your name being called. Constantly watching the screen is mentally exhausting and creates unnecessary stress. It would be helpful if staff could directly approach deaf patients when it's their turn. While I can check in automatically, I wonder if it's possible to add a note to my profile indicating my hearing impairment to improve communication and support.
