Difficult to get in-person appointments when needed most

I registered with this practice at the end of 2019. I maintained good health through regular exercise and a balanced diet, so I had no need for medical appointments during my first three years. Unfortunately, I experienced significant digestive issues last year and sought their support, only to find that arranging in-person consultations proved extremely challenging, with telephone appointments being the default option. However, I was referred for a comprehensive series of diagnostic tests to screen for serious conditions. Some of these investigations prompted me to pursue additional private healthcare abroad. Following a year of various appointments and hospital visits, which fortunately all returned negative findings, I continue to face the same substantial difficulties. Two months ago, I attended a private clinic, partly due to ongoing symptoms and partly because of concerns about the service I was receiving. They promptly identified a food intolerance and provided me with a management plan to follow for one month. My symptoms improved dramatically within a week. The private clinic recommended that I request testing for various intolerances and allergies, including gluten and lactose, and suggested I return to my GP to arrange these investigations. I visited my practice today and discussed my findings with the clinician managing my care. However, they were unwilling to arrange the full range of tests I had requested, agreeing only to gluten testing. They also declined my request for a dermatological referral, which I had been seeking for several months. They explained that they could only address one issue per appointment, with a ten-minute limit. I find this approach frustrating given that I contribute through taxation to fund the service. I have observed that other patients, particularly older individuals, frequently appear distressed and dissatisfied with their experience here. As I am able to access healthcare elsewhere, I have registered with another practice effective immediately. While I recognise my departure may have minimal impact, perhaps it will allow more time for other patients. Should others make similar decisions, there may come a point when reduced patient numbers allow for more attentive and compassionate care for those who remain. Best regards
