Leaving aside the difficulties of getting appointments, the main problem is lack of honesty to the patient: eg when a GP says that an urgent 2 week referral will be done by him that day only to find 10 days later 'he is on annual leave and we can't disturb him' (sic!) BUT THE REFERRAL STILL HASN'T BEEN DONE! is astonishing, appalling and dishonesty. For the Practice manager of the same surgery to assure me by email that a staff member will check another referral and get back to me In a week, only for a week to pass and now I speak with the staff member who has never seen the instruction at all! It is just one lie after another, or sheer incompetence, who can tell?
