Dismissive Doctor Yelled and Insulted Me

My encounter with Dr Anwara Ali was not only unprofessional but also profoundly traumatic, and I feel compelled to share my experience. Upon arriving for my appointment, I was forced to wait approximately 45 minutes beyond my scheduled time. During this period, I observed Dr Ali arriving late and entering her office 30 minutes after my designated appointment time (3:30pm). When I was finally called in, it was evident that Dr. Ali was already in a visibly agitated state, seemingly due to personal issues unrelated to work. Unfortunately, this negative attitude appeared to be directed towards me, despite my urgent medical needs, which had prompted me to seek immediate assistance based on 111 service advice. Throughout the consultation, Dr. Ali was dismissive and devoid of empathy. She consistently interrupted me and demonstrated no inclination to listen to my symptoms. I felt intimidated while attempting to explain my condition, and she callously remarked that I was "wasting her time." Her lack of compassion escalated when I requested medication to be sent to the nearby pharmacy, given my nominated pharmacy's inconvenient location. Her response was shocking: she declared that "people like you make the world worse," which was not only inappropriate but deeply hurtful. I was left feeling humiliated and on the brink of tears. Moreover, Dr. Ali explicitly told me never to book an appointment with her again, despite this being an emergency referral. When I mentioned my intention to file a complaint, she brazenly challenged me, asserting that it would make no difference because she is "very popular around here." This dismissive attitude only intensified my distress. As I left the room, her shouting was so loud that the facilities manager could hear her, leading me to console him and inquire about complaint submission procedures. I want to emphasize that this experience has left me feeling vulnerable and frightened. Dr. Ali boldly dared me to complain, seemingly confident in her immunity from consequences. This is not an isolated incident of her unprofessional conduct. I will be escalating this complaint to NHS England, the CQC, and GMC, as I believe a simple apology is entirely inadequate. As a public servant, I expect significantly better treatment from healthcare professionals, particularly when dealing with vulnerable patients. Therefore, I am advocating for severe consequences against Dr. Ali to prevent other patients from experiencing similar humiliation and disrespect.
