Dismissive nurse made me feel unheard and frustrated

I recently encountered a deeply unsettling situation at the medical center. Although my initial interactions with the doctor and physiotherapist regarding my persistent six-month back pain were positive, my subsequent encounter with a nurse felt like an attempt to invalidate my genuine physical suffering. I've been experiencing two lumps on my back, now diagnosed as a trapped nerve and Lipoma. I detailed my previous medical investigations, including blood tests and ultrasounds, and expressed my openness to an X-ray as a potential next step in understanding my condition. The nurse summarily dismissed the X-ray suggestion without proposing an alternative, instead insinuating that my pain was primarily psychological. She probed my mental health, to which I responded by highlighting my professional role as a support worker - a position that surely requires mental stability. Regarding the lump I wanted examined, she claimed to feel nothing, attributing it to my body's structure. Surprisingly, upon reviewing my consultation notes, I discovered she had actually noted something she didn't verbally acknowledge. She proceeded to scrutinize my medical history, questioning past issues like ear pain and suggesting I might be prone to excessive worry. Initially, I found her approach amusing, but quickly realized the consultation was unproductive. I promptly requested an alternative doctor. While initially told seeing my previous doctor was impossible, she eventually committed to arranging a consultation and scheduled a blood test for inflammation. The entire interaction left me bewildered, and I explicitly requested to avoid future appointments with this particular nurse. The subsequent phone 'apology' felt more like a defensive explanation, with the nurse attempting to rationalize her approach by discussing the complexities of pain perception. While I articulated my dissatisfaction, I remain concerned that less assertive patients might be easily persuaded to doubt the legitimacy of their physical experiences. Consequently, I am now actively seeking a healthcare professional who can approach my medical concerns with genuine empathy, professional diligence, and a holistic understanding of my health situation.
