Dreadful

Absolutely appalling service from Moss Grove Surgery today. After spending TWO HOURS on the telephone trying to arrange an urgent appointment, I was eventually told there were no appointments available and that I would have to ring again tomorrow. So presumably I am expected to spend another two hours trying to get through, with absolutely no guarantee of an appointment! If you want to book a routine appointment in advance, the waiting time is apparently THREE WEEKS. How is this remotely acceptable? We were advised to go to the walk-in centre at Russells Hall Hospital instead. All we needed was medication that had been recommended by a consultant at the Royal Orthopaedic Hospital yesterday. Surely arranging this should not require hours on the telephone or a trip to an already overstretched walk-in centre? What is the point of having a GP surgery if patients cannot access it when they genuinely need help? People should not have to fight to obtain basic medical care, particularly when they are already dealing with serious health problems. The system seems designed to make accessing a GP as difficult as possible. Telling patients to ring back tomorrow is not a solution; it is simply passing the problem back to the patient. Two hours wasted, no appointment, no medication and absolutely no resolution. A thoroughly frustrating and unacceptable experience. Patients deserve far better than this.
