Foxhayes Practice: Negligence Behind Professional Façade

This evaluation is the result of several years of engagement with the practice. My reflections encompass not only my own experiences but also those of my wife and our friends. The level of indifference at Foxhayes is truly astonishing. I won't bore you with an exhaustive list detailing every instance of rudeness, arrogance, disinterest, or outright dismissal exhibited by the GPs here. Nevertheless, I will share a few examples that reveal the incompetence present. While my wife was inside the facility, in and out of consciousness due to a suspected stroke and unable to articulate her needs, she had to endure hearing the GPs debate who was responsible for her care and who had time available before they finally agreed on calling for an ambulance. Only one nurse showed compassion by apologizing for what transpired. Medical staff at the hospital later indicated that my wife's condition could have escalated into liver failure because she suffered from malnutrition. She had made numerous visits to Foxhayes over six months leading up to this incident to address concerning symptoms. In another case, a patient known for mental health issues was dismissed with comments such as “everyone feels like that sometimes,” followed by advice to “take a leaflet and reach out yourself” if assistance was needed from Exeter's mental health services. This individual is currently undergoing treatment for bipolar disorder along with severe social anxiety. I genuinely believe we would all fare better simply "taking a leaflet" and attempting self-help rather than spending any time in this practice. This raises an important question: Foxhayes—what exactly do you offer? What kind of service can you provide that couldn't be more efficiently handled by anyone simply using a phone? This shabby establishment stands as a blot on what is otherwise an admirable NHS system; it truly deserves closure due to its lackluster performance.
