Frustrated by phone-first appointment system for urgent concern

My daughter experienced a seizure over the weekend and has been unusually drowsy since then. This morning she developed a rash that appears to be spreading across her body. I contacted the surgery early in the day and was informed that a clinician would return my call. I was asked to provide photographs, which I submitted. When I called back to inquire about the timeframe for a callback, I questioned why my young child could not simply be seen in person for an examination, particularly given that she had been started on a new antibiotic to which there is a family history of allergic reaction. I was told that reception staff are unable to book face-to-face appointments and that I would need to wait for a clinician to call me back, speak with me, and then determine whether an appointment would be necessary. I found this process frustrating given the circumstances. I had previously given this practice another opportunity after a concerning incident involving my other daughter's immunisations, and I regret doing so.
