Frustrated parent seeks better medical care

I've visited this medical practice twice now regarding my 2-year-old's lingering dry cough, which has persisted for over two weeks and becomes more severe during nighttime, accompanied by occasional wheezing. Initially, I was prescribed antibiotics that proved ineffective. During the second visit, I explained to the doctor my growing concerns that the cough was not improving and had even worsened, with my child experiencing a fever at one point. Despite my explanation, the doctor claimed there was nothing to be done and prescribed an allergy syrup, which seemed nonsensical to me, and I couldn't comprehend the reasoning behind it. As a concerned parent, witnessing my child's discomfort and apparent distress is incredibly stressful, particularly when I feel my concerns are being dismissed. While I understand that not every cough requires immediate medical intervention, when symptoms are persistent, disruptive to sleep, and clearly causing my child significant unease, I expect more than mere dismissive reassurances. I am deeply frustrated by the apparent lack of meaningful medical attention and would appreciate if the practice would demonstrate greater sensitivity to parental concerns—especially when patients return multiple times with clear indications that the child's condition is not improving. I sincerely hope other families do not encounter similar experiences of apparent medical indifference.
