Frustrating healthcare experience with endless waiting

I wasted nearly an hour waiting on hold, attempting to schedule a blood test consultation with a nurse. After all that time, I was informed that a general practitioner must first approve the request, and phone bookings aren't even permitted—instead, I'm directed to use their "eConsults" digital form. Upon completing the online submission, I received a response indicating they won't review my case for another five days. Is this really how healthcare operates nowadays?!
