Frustrating healthcare nightmare leaves patient without medication

I'm incredibly frustrated with the current situation regarding my mother's monthly medication. She's been without her necessary prescription for several days now. After a prolonged delay, she finally received a callback from her physician, who was unhelpful and claimed complete ignorance about her prescription status. At this point, I'm completely at a loss about how to proceed and obtain her critical medication.
