Frustrating knee referral mess after month-long wait

I've been dealing with a persistent knee issue for over a month, repeatedly seeking help without any resolution. My GP has been unhelpful, and when I questioned why I wasn't referred to a physiotherapist or seen by an MSK practitioner, I was constantly told a referral was submitted on 10.10.23 - which turned out to be false. The referral was actually sent back on 11.10.23 with no proper information, just "knee" noted. Despite multiple A&E visits mentioning patella bursitis, nothing progressed. After an 18.10.23 consultation with MSK's Shaista, I was given a number to call, but they claimed conflicting information about the referral. Every department I contacted seemed to contradict the others, making me appear uncoordinated. I couldn't self-refer and had to rely on my GP's actions. On 23.10.23, I requested a sick note and chased the referral that should have been processed when I first saw the GP in September. Despite taking medication for over a month with no improvement, I've had to push for physiotherapy myself. As of 27.10.23, the referral still wasn't completed. I've now logged an issue with NHS ICB and am considering changing practices. This experience has shown me their true inefficiency - the communication between departments is abysmal. I've been forced to chase every detail and even resort to private physiotherapy due to their mismanagement. I refuse to go through this ordeal again.
