Frustrating medical appointment nightmare at surgery

I've been attempting to secure a medical appointment since 8:30 this morning. The reception staff finally answered at 9:13am, declaring all daily slots were fully booked and advising me to try again tomorrow or contact 111 for urgent matters. Given my ongoing COVID illness and need to extend my work sick note, I contacted 111. After spending 48 minutes on the phone, I discovered there were actually available appointments at Victoria Road Surgery. While the doctor wouldn't see me in person due to my symptoms (which I understand), they offered a telephone consultation. Without calling 111, I would have been unable to arrange any appointment. I've been a long-term patient here, and I fondly recall how efficiently everything ran when Doctor Cameron and his original reception team were managing the practice. The current staff appear disinterested and seem to approach their roles as if it's some form of imposed duty. I'm perplexed why they don't implement advance booking methods like other medical practices to prevent such overwhelming daily scheduling challenges.
