Frustrating medical experience with covid complications

Just a month after COVID restrictions and mask mandates were lifted, I contracted the virus after avoiding it for two years. The illness completely prevented me from working. I attempted to contact the Medical Centre twice at 8 AM but could not get through. Given my severe condition, I struggled to continue calling. I only reached out when I needed a medical certificate for work, and even then, I couldn't connect with them for two days. On the third day, I joined the 8 o'clock call and secured a phone appointment for Friday. The doctor who called was abrupt, stating he could only issue the medical certificate from the day I contacted them. Fortunately, the following Monday, I received a direct phone appointment where a more considerate doctor provided a letter instead of a medical certificate, allowing me to return to work. Initially quoted £25, I was surprisingly charged £30 at reception. The doctor's letter explicitly noted that I had not contacted them during my infection and was now issuing the document at my request. The bureaucratic process and their letter effectively prevented me from receiving medical leave pay.
